Blowing smoke???

Post by slinky » Tue Feb 17, 2015 10:23 am

So my TRX has just rolled by 75 000 ks. I just did a track day over the wk end and I was pulled up after a session and was told it was blowing blue/white smoke and apparently blew a massive cloud of black smoke at one stage. I've just done an oil and filter change 250ks ago and have rarely seen smoke before in my mirrors.

Something definitely needs servicing / replacing. Could I need new piston rings? Or could it be something worse? Is there a way I could make a job like this a bit cheaper since I think I'll be sending this in for a service now.

I also have recently poured some worn engine treatment fluid into the engine cause of the high ks.

Probably oil getting past the rings. Does it use much oil? Mine does & blows a fair bit of smoke I'm told.

It doesn't seem to use any oil. I checked throughout the day and it hadn't moved in the window. I'll see what others say then I'll see what my mech says!
