Stretching the memory a little, but I think as long as the stanchion is out, you shouldn't need to go any further. There is a slider in there I think, copper, with a coating on it that may need to be replaced, but I think that just slides out, perhaps with a wire clip above... It's been a long time since I had the forks apart!
