strange hose

Post by JACKO » Fri Mar 16, 2007 2:51 pm

hi chaps
i have just come to lower the petrol tank down on the rex and i noticed a loose hose sticking up thru the frame. I have tried to find where it has come from but i am at a loss. it wont reach the carbs and there is nowhere on the tank as far as i can see. I checked the underside of the tank and there are no open ends anywhere. I have taken a couple of photos on the old mobile but i havent got a clue how to post them on the forum.

Any sugestions as to where this hose goes would be appreciated.

cheers

jacko

P.S. it is about 5mm bore rubber hose.

There's a thick-ish breather hose which runs from the tank straignt down to between the swingarm and back of the engine, and is open-ended, from memory..?

My first thought was the one that goes straight into the frame but this on has a clip so it looks like its the one for the tank like Trixynut says.
Did you had them all disconneted?
Coz the one one the tank looks like it doesnt belong there.
There are two connected to the fuelpump, did ya check that?

the one on the bottom of the tank was already there. it doesnt help matters that when i lifted the tank i didnt bend down and watch what was going on under the tank. i know i should of but i was getting a bit excited at the time and just yanked it up

i think i will have to get a magic haynes manual this weekend and see if it has all the answers

cheers

Actually, I'm sure there's another hose connecting to the fuel tap: maybe it's that. Don't think it goes forwards to the carbs....

...best bet is to hunt round for a 'shiny' connector that's not been exposed to road shite and chances are it's off there.

...or as a last resort, look in the Manual!!!

Service Manual

Have you looked at the service manual on the site downloads section?

Does give the layout of cables and hoses but not very readable

That looks like the one that goes to the tank.Like shifty says the one that is on the tank doesn't belong there.Problem is now you have a new problem.Where the bloody hell does that one that is on the tank really belong. Was the bike running properly before?

It should be a vacuum hose, it connects one of the intake manifolds, to the fuel tap. The fuel tap has a diafrag thats close the fuel when the bike is not running, when it's set to Run or Res. when the tap is on PRI it overrides that diafrag and the fuel flows even with te bike shut down.

My TRX doesnt have a vacuumhose on the fueltap, only a vacuumhose attached to the fuelpump.

Surely all TRXs should have a vacuum hose onto the fuel tap and another to the pump.
