Thought i posted this last night, but for some reason the thread isnt here.. go figgure.. anyway..

Summary: 00/01 R1 swinger is 72mm longer than the TRX unit, thus, ive proceeded to do... blah, you get the idea.
Ive noticed that lowering the triple clamps 30mm helps, 40mm is "comfortable" for my personal likings. But ive noticed a few problems because of this. The bike takes a while to get into a corner, but once its in a corner, it drops suddenly, almost as tho it pulls into a corner. After riding a few mates bikes, then changing back and quickly comparing mine, ive set a bench on how i like it to feel VS what i want.. Its sluggish to start the turn, but once you "wake it up" it is VERY sharp.. I suspect this because of the longer swingarm and lowered forks. Combining these 2 things, this is the result..

Without further chatting.. i give you my current project. (I started today, ill finish tomorrow, have it welded up and back in by this time next week, thats with re-polishing).

Seriously, it'll be the same high quality as the rest of your work, looks great.

Will you be moving the linkage mounting points back on the arm too? If you don't will the suspension linkage geometry remain the same?

1: linkage geometry will remain standard.. it will however bet positioned differently.. best way to describe it is instead of the pivot triangle sitting one position, its pre-rotated with the linkages compensating.. So its still the same mechanical advantage and compression on the spring, its just "at rest" at a different angle.

2: its not super glue.. Theres a bottle of loctite 243, HEAPS of alu grinding dust and some fibreglass dust aswell (its all clean now)

4: same high quality work ? err.. i do high quality work ? wait till you see the rest of the shit ive been doing...

Hahahhhaa I remember that spat too - IIRC it was within the first few weeks of me looking at the board. I decided not to fit an R1 rear after that lol...

Quant - I saw the 243, but hiding behind the tins of fiberglass (sic) resin there are 2xfive packs of .... superglue! Now, I think you're just sticking all these things together then qiving them a quick squirt of aluminium wheel-paint ... *ducks after running for cover*

Oh yer. just got back from mallala, had a good weekend (was pit crew for a racer) had some issues.. binned it on friday, bogged the clutch on launch 4 damn times on saturday for race one, but race 2 was much better (its a 125GP, so launch is surprisingly hard to not bog and not burn the clutch out), and got cut off badly in turn 1 today (sunday) so we had a fairly stinky weekend. But otherwise the bike was very consistant (1:15.5 was the best time we lapped) But still finished well on saturday so put some well needed points on the board.

Anyway, theres a track day wednesday, i dont think the TRX will be ready, i REALLY want it to be, but gonna have to wait and see if i can get it back in and sorted by then.
$150 for the day.. Its phenoix / ducati club day, but $150 for everyone else (covers entry, insurance)
