Tony Woodward at kentcams said that he probably had to slot the wheels so they are to be slotted tomorrow. New top gasket came yesterday...
I´m taking the train down there saturday and picking up the bike monday....keep fingers crossed!!

I think i will regret this really bad, should have waited until the guy who did "Peder´s" TRX had time/place to do it....well well....to late!

An update....

The sprockets are now slotted and the bike only misses 2hp compared to original cams...
Cams at exactly 105/109 now and when measuring the "kent way" the lobes are within specs.

Well, the season is here and i´ll have to ride or i will go mad so i´ll pickup the bike on monday....at least there are quite some more tourque!

Cheers guys and gals!

Surely the cams should give you more power though?

I've just read this thread tonight.
My sprockets are slotted with the Kent Cams. I very much doubt that the cams are at fault - Kent must've done thousands of camshafts over the years and several on TDM motors.

Overfilling the sump would NOT cause the head gasket to blow but would (as someone mentioned) force oil into the airbox. If the engine had injested oil into the cylinders then a conrod would've bent. I suspect they've mal assembled the head and the gasket blew - maybe dirt on the surfaces or something like that.

The 10 new shims is possible - as the base circle was ground then the gap would be excesive - I know mine took new shims.
The wrong valve clearance wouldn't allow the escape of oil phuk but would cause incorrect valve timing - they would need to first of all shim to the correct clearance THEN slot the wheels for the correct timing.

The opposite of pre - ignition is.......post ignition or "running on" but that is invariably related to spark timing or very weak mixtures.

I hope all is well with it soon - IMHO Kent do a god job but it needs a competant technician to rebuild it!

Is the valve clearence different with kent than with original?
They´ve set the clearence according to Haynes....

I think the clearance actually was a bit different (from the top of my head...), but it was very little and would not cause this decrease of HP. What I and Dandy was on about was that the Kent cams have a smaller base circle and therefore need re-shimming (material is taken off the cams). If they've set the clearance according to the Haynes manual, I'd say that would be OK! (It wasn't clear whether they had done this before, but now You've given that information)

The decrease is mysterious, they must have done something wrong. OK, cams only won't give You that much, but You have ported the head, Keihins etc, so You should definitely expect more! Be sure to get the before and after diagrams, with A/F, and let Tony take a look at them. My suspicion is that they might have ruined the airflow on toprevs by porting, but there might be other fuk-ups too...

Mine are set 0.1 mm larger gap on both inlet and exhaust - to the larger of the manufacturer's tolerance. making the gap too big will affect the valve timing considerably - open late and close early - possibly by as much as 10 degrees!

Ok, but then it will be kinda crap all over huh!?
Mine are noticable more purky up to ~6000 rpm, accellerates faster.

Well, down in Ystad (very south of Sweden) and the sun is shining from a 100% blue sky.
Wish me luck in riding the bike home, hope everything will be OK now....we had NO rain days in april so it really sucks having the bike in a garage!

Have a nice one all...and as said...hold your thumbs!!

Bike outside the office.
Ystad - GBG ~350km...did it in 2,45 with one stop for gas and one stop for food....glad i only saw the law going in the other direction!

Will soon scan the dynoruns so you can see the misery....all the nice ooomph i had in the mid before the slotted sprockets are gone now. I loved that!

Well, you´ll see later!

"....and here are the results of the swedish jury"

(all numbers on the rearwheel)
ORIGINAL - well, FS 41´s with podfilter and Zorstec system, "supercan" and wrapped exhaust.
Image

Kentcams + stage1 portjob....straight in there.....
Image

Kentcams with slotted sprockets....and the above....
Image

....and it has cost me quite a bit. :x
Can add that now the bike ran at ~65 on the gauge at an average speed of 160 km/h...tad over 200 at times....and the gauge did not rush when stopping.
I actually think they didn´t fill her up correctly first time around...

Well, now i can ride....and that´s the main thing!
Will be interesting to see where you end up Hans....guess you have a dyno chart previous this motorwork!?
