Hi there Oka...

Try here:

This thread is from the old board and gives a pretty good schematic and a pictorial methodology (great word eh?) on how it's done...

It works !!

There is a link in here to an ebay item wich fixes this...someone in here bought it and reported it to work just fine.
(perhaps easier than the do it yourself solution!?)

:D I bought the little red box made by POSH-FIRM of Japan, plugs into the wiring loom from the clocks. This is for the XJR 1200 or the TRX, however went on their website, and it isnt shown.
Your bike will rev to 7000 revs, and top out at 180 KPH, less RPM with aftermarket cans on etc.
It is easy to fit, just need to remove the fairing.

Hi Oka,

Good to see another Kiwi on line.

I have the same challenge and tried dicking withit by fitting other speedos and all sorts. No luck.

I rcommend having a look around for the plug in option. Everyone says that it works, and is simple and easy.

try this link. It has a review on the rex and also a paragraph on how to disconnect the limiter.

:D The little red box does the trick, now revs off the scale, not tried for top end yet.

well..was just reading this, is 185kph the normal top speed of the TRX?

cause the other day I pushed mine a bit..and bear in mind I don´t have a clue what mods the bike has internally as it was an ex-Harris bike..

But she went quite quickly up to 140mph (about 225kph) and was still going when I had to break....
don´t ask me about what revs cause at that speed I just looked at the speed when I started to break...

Hi [JP]!

The maximum speed according to German registration documents is 215 km/h.

Mine does approx. 220 km/h at 8.000 rpm with a transmission ratio of 17/42 (shorter than the original 17/39).

This might be "true" 200 km/h with an estimated 10% fast reading of the speedo - and that's enough for me 'cause I prefer greater acceleration than top speed.

Quickening greetings from Munich!

Out in traffic the speedo shows 210kmh -ish
On the dyno it´s 180kmh -ish
....so the speedometer is a really happy one on the TRX it seems! :)

replace the 120/60 front tyre with a 120/70 and bugger me backward the speedo becomes accurate...

Now with 140,000 on the clocks, X-mas tree didn't kill it & I still love it.

Only for restricted Japanese imports. UK spec bikes (like yours) are not restricted.

:D If its restricted you will know when you hit the limiter, believe it cuts out onto one pot, certainly won't go any faster, or rev any higher.
