I ordered mine from yamaha...

But usually i just go there, look at the microfiche and tell them..this is the bit I want..
they already know me (went there again today and spent 90quid for the thundercat!!!) so IÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â´m allowed to go around the counter and look at the computer...

Well, got the bike back today, and you know what. It's running worse than when I put it in

With the Factory Pro kitted, it bogs down just off idle, and then clears itself a little, THEN it has a HUGE flat spot around 3500 - 4000rpm and then takes off beautifully and crisply from then on. I stalled it 3 times just getting it out on the road 'cos the idle was set down around 800. Got down the road a bit and adjusted the idle up to 1100 - 1200 and it ran a little better, but not much.

I can only think that they fitted the kit and didn't tune it.

It's rideable but for what I paid to get the work done, I think I've been ripped off a bit. Makes me even more determined to save up for a set of FCRs.

I have just changed my emulstion tubes today and will post some pictures on how to do it shortly.

thing is..the ones that were in the carbs looked like the wholes were a bit bigger than in the ones I got from Yamaha... maybe they were worned and thatÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â´s why they seemed bigger?

Did my carbs on Friday afternoon. The old emulsion tubes were worn oval - the hole did look a bit bigger because of it. I've also put in a Dynojet kit at the same time but I've yet to take it out for a run to see how it goes. At least it starts OK so I know I put the carbs on the right way round!

The whole job took me 2 1/2 hours from complete bike back to complete bike! I guess it gets a bit quicker with practice? Looking at the Factory Pro guide to setting up the bike I may be delving back into the carbs a few more times yet!

Anyone else out there with advice on jet sizes, needle positions etc? I have Carbon Can stainless exhausts with a K&N filter. I've set up with a 148.5 main jet and the Dynojet needle on the second clip (down from the end).

JP - If you haven't put your carbs back on yet watch out for the coolant pipe connection on the left carb. I fitted the carbs and most of the other pipes back on when I realised I'd not fitted that one. I had to take the carbs back off to get the clip back on it! I only swore a little bit!!

Well, rang the shop and explained what was happening. They said that they might have set the carbs up a bit lean. Told me to bring it back in this Thursday afternoon. Lets see what happens this time?

I finally bit the bullet and ordered the emulsion thingie from Factory Pro in the US. Friendly service. The parts were delivered about a week later in Sydney. I set to work dismantling my carbs straight away. Pulled about 20 tubes off them, and cables. The replacement went smoothly. Couldn't tell by a visual whether the old tubes had ovalised. Perhaps. Then started the re-assembly. Required careful look at manual. Everything in exact reverse order. However, wasn't sure if I'd connected the coolant water into the fuel intake, but the bike did start, so I don't care what is powering the thing. It seems to run fine, and I have a hunch that the old fuel smell has seriously diminished. A few flat patches that probably werent there before. I have yet to run through a full tank of gas to see how the economy goes, so if anyone is interested, I will post information on that.

It's running much better now.They richened up the mixture a bit and now the flat spot has disappeared. There is still a bit of fluffyness on cold start on the choke but this is getting better with age. Fuel consumption per tank has gone up from 180kms / tank to up to 260 - 280kms / tank, so you gotta be happy with that

Hey Bob, gota be happy with that, is that per tank or to reserve?

That's theoretically to reserve Ash. I can sometimes be a bit heavyhanded, plus that's commuter miles not highway.

Its sunny here!

I put fuel in, go for a run, go on reserve, put more fuel in. Never even tried to measure mpg on any of my bikes, but cars I always check ( toy has a computer that tells you all sorts of info about fuel.)

I'm inspired. after a disappointing TT week due to awful fuel consumption, stinking of fuel and the dreaded 4000-5000 flatspot I've decided to remove my dyno jetted carsb and re instate the old ones.

I will do a full strip down of the dyno jetted ones and my old ones to show the differences in the kit and what worn out tubes look like.
