Sparkplug cap into cylinder......
....Do you have any good ideas besides loan a car with a tow and take it to a garage??
When putting on the dynatek coils i had to use a cap on the sparkplugs, the F**k firm that ported etc. my bike (you prob seen the story) also changed sparks...i wanted to check/exchange them tonight but the cap on them where so loose it went off the spark first and of cource i did not felt it....when the plug came off it felt wierd (i now realise that the cap lied just beside the plug)
I felt that it was off and tried to fasten the plug again but no luck....then i took a magnet on a string trying to fish it up....and of cource the plug came first and i heard the "plopp" when the cap went in there.....
So, if any of you have a great idea wich is less work than borrowing a car with a tow and hiring a wagon....taking it to a garage to take everything off i would GREATLY appreciate it!!
Cheers

If it's the bit I think it is, then a magnet isn't going to help... Are you talking about the little screw on aluminium collars like on old Champion and early NGK plugs?
How about using a length of flexible plastic pipe, hook one end up to a vacuum cleaner and suck the f*cker out !!??
Either that or a piece of blu-tack on the end of some thick copper wire and poke around inside the cylinder in the hope you'll 'grab' the collar. Blu-tack is pretty stringy stuff so if you make a loop in the end of the wire it's not likely to fall off... not that it would make matters any worse though..

Do as Greg said with a piece of tube ( exellent idea ) . To make it easier check to see if that cylinder is at the bottom of its stroke or close to it just put a piece of wire into eack plug hole and see which piston is lowest if not remove large screw bung from left hand side of motor so you can turn motor over in anti clock wise direction ( I MAY BE WRONG WITH DIRECTION SO CHECK WITH OTHERS FIRST ) and use a large tube taped to a vac cleaner
catch ewe later bob

Vaccuum is a good idea, but just make sure You really get the piece out, it can be hard to hear it coming through the pipe. Only other idea I can come up is to use a thin cupper wire with a very short "hook" on it. The piece You're looking for has a hole in it, so with some patience and a bit of luck it should be doable.
But I don't really understand why it ended up there? My sparkplugs don't have that piece in the first place, and even if Your Dyna sparkcaps needs them, why was it loose? And even if it was loose, why did it fall down in the cylinder?

Or you could just start it up an hold the throttle wide open, that little cap will never know what hit it!
Seriously though, I'd definately try to hook, suck or fish it out with one of the above mentioned methods. It can't go anywhere if you don't start the engine.
And I can just imagine you getting a tow to the shop and accidentally clicking it into gear...

Blu Tack (marketed as Fun-Tak in the United States) is a versatile, reusable putty-like pressure-sensitive adhesive. Common uses are to:
Hold up posters
Hold telephones, mouse mats and other small items in place
Hold screws to screw drivers, model parts in position for painting or gluing
Keep picture frames level
Clean fluff from fabric and dirt from hard to get at places, such as computer keyboards
The original version was blue, but myriad colours are now available. It is based on a formulation consisting of synthetic rubber, polymers, oil, and inorganic fillers.

It felt as i had a grip on the plug but it was the rubber in the tool wich just had gripped the top cap....that fell off without me notice....took a new grip (yes, there i should have stopped!!) and when the plug was off the thread i reached for it and then felt the cap was missing.....tried to screw the plug back on there but it would not budge....so i guess the little cap already where in the thread....and then magnet etc. etc. etc.HansJ wrote:Vaccuum is a good idea, but just make sure You really get the piece out, it can be hard to hear it coming through the pipe.
