:D The plugs are a pain to fit, I use a socket on a double ended box spanner loose enough to allow slight movement to align the threads but tight enough to nip up the threads.

Well, the right plug was a breeze to change....
But the vacuum cleaner did not help...did not feel anything when poking around down there either.....
Will take home the compressor from work on saturday and see if pressure helps....

Otherwise i´ll actually will follow Max´s initial advice!! :evil:

I don't think a blow job would help (in this case). Blowing air in there might just push that little nipple (cap) right up into a partially open valve. It would be a real trick to be able to blow it out the plug hole.

Maybe you can find someone that has one of those colonscope like things. Tetsu (race partner) has one for looking at piston crowns. At least you'd know if it's actually in there.

I would think your flexible hose that you attach to the hoover would need to be quite small and quite flexible for it to go through the spark plug hole AND fish around inside the cylinder. Too small for the alloy plug cap to pass through it. But with luck you can 'catch' the offending part and the suction will hold it to the end of the tube and you will see it stuck there when you pull the tube back out. Good luck with the fishing !!!

Yes, I'd definately keep fishing. But just in case, I'd do a thorough search around where you were working on it and the top end of the bike to make sure it didn't go elsewhere (leaving you nothing to suck but piston crowns, which could be embarrassing unless you enjoy that sort of thing...). Have you checked the little drain hole (line)? The one that makes its exit on the left side of the head?

A blob of thick grease on a little bit of cloth tied to the end of a piece of welding wire might be a good "fishing" tool :wink:

Yup, will test all ideas this week....
We have an extration unit for our laserprinters wich have massive suction power so will try that also....any ideas are good as i really don´t want to disassemble bike in mid season!

I´m no mechanic but ok with the tools....
You who have done it...how long to unscrew engine....flip it to get the fekker out and then put the motor in again!?
....if possible.....

Dropping the motor out ain't that hard but it's a PITA as a 1 man job - best done with 2.

I reckon you could drop the motor and put it back in a mroning without killing yourself. It really is only a matter of disconnecting everything and undoing a few bolts.

The lump is bastard heavy though.

Seriously though, what happens when you get the engine out, flip it over, shake it (don't plan on trying that by yourself or you will be dead before the end of the morning) and nothing comes out because it's caught in a partially open valve?

I'd really look around for someone that has a fiber-optic scope and have a look in there first. I'd bet you'd be pretty pissed if you went through all the effort just to find out it's not in there in the first place?

If it is, with the slant of the cylinders it more than likely is resting in the front. One way to make sure, hoist the rear end of the bike up in the air and kick the rear wheel just to make sure. Then you can dab around with your big sticky Q-tip again.

Pulling the engine sounds like way too much work to me (and yeah, I've done it).

I´ve heard it both when fekking around with a hard pneumatic hose and it really danced around when i went full blow from the compressor!! :evil:
