There's no harm in trying other products,i'd much rather throw a set of tyres from a different manufacturer on my bike then chop sub-frames and weld bits and bobs onto my bike so it looks like a suped up shopping trolleyphuk72 wrote:What's that then?Ridgifumi wrote:....that gives slick like performance.
A bitch to get up to working temperature and dangerous in the wet?
For me tyres are what stops me falling off and I would never buy cheap alternatives.
new tyre choice

I have done a set of set of Shinks on the FJR. They have been really good. The value for money is quite unreal. I have had the super soft on the front like the ones Ridgy posted a photo of and a slightly harder one on the rear. I have had the best milage from them compared to any tire. I have had Metzlers (Touring) Just broke those up! (6k) They didn't seem to like the 200 k plus runs for any length of time, then 012 Bridgy's, they where great but wasted them in about 4 k. I have had 8k out of the Shinkos with no moments and even worn they seem to be ok. Better than the older Michelin Roads I had. They only negative is the weights that it took to balance them. Although that is fine, I see it as a poor reflection on the quality of build.

Never go cheap on the tyres... but as you do a lot of long straights the MPPR do make a good choice, also in the twisties and wet.
My REX is fitted with BT014's, great in the rain, nice on the track, but not really lasting on straight highways.

just fitted metzeler sport tec 3 and scrubbed them in today so far so good also switched to the 120/70 front, dropped the yokes down the forks 8mm now have 28mm showing, seems ok so far the pirrelis were 5 years old
no wonder they seem to take long to heat up and no time at all to cool down cost £191 they give me a ticket to send away and claim £40 back
