Just wanted to verify that i remember correctly here....
It´s this TDM kit wich also fits TRX right!?

96 - 98 TDM front sprocket is the same as TRX but I think the rear is different. TDM900 rear is the same as TRX I think.

PCD of 850 is 140mm
PCD of TRX and 900 is 150mm

But could be wrong

Also stock rear on TRX is 39 tooth

If you dont want to cut out some links I have a 48 rear sitting on the garage wall. :D It's a bit ambitious for my chain at the moment.

I have 16/39 fitted. I didn't realise a 42 was so easily available. Always getting stooged down at the bike shop with them saying "nah mate this wont fit, that wont fit."

Good luck getting the right one mate.

Worked for me, much better gearing for track days than standard.
You have to get a TRX/TDM850 front sprocket and a TDM900 rear. Standard length chain (110 links?) will fit.

I was in my friendly local Yamaha dealer today, and could he find a 16T front sprocket for me? Could he b*llocks!

In its OE configuration, there's no other sprocket listed as a direct 16T replacement for the standard item. The TDM sprocket has a different flange thickness (allegedly) so using one as a direct replacement on a TRX will cause chain alignment issues.

The other option is to use a 525 chain (or a 520 - whichever isn't standard) and get a chain/sprocket set....

What has anyone else done??

Greg.

There are 3 different TDM front sprockets

up to 95 and 99 on

96 - 98

900

The 96 - 98 is the same as the TRX (see my first reply).

Greg - try Kedo. They list 15, 16 snd 17 tooth front sprockets for the TRX in 525.

http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk and ace for all sprocket options: good prices, good service.

I'm running standard rear and 16 front. Cos the YZF rear wheel/180 tyre is bigger diameter it's about the same as standard gearing. Could do with going a bit lower really.
