spark plugs ?

ok so ive got new plugs on order now anyway but basically the normal socket set plug bits dont fit to remove the ones ive got so what sort of spark plug tool do i need ? bike shop told me 12mm long reach so bought it and just now found out long reach hits frame so cant be used ? I need to get the plugs out to see if i can figure out why all of a sudden it wont start ?

lead off plug in both coils produceing good spark fuel pump working but till i get the plugs out cant see if its getting into the cylinder or not really?

Seems to be common for people to say parts of the carbs should be replaced ? what parts ? the carbs have been dyno jetted the filter is a K&N and up till now worked and ran fine but may aswell do all the work at once before its back on the road ?

I use one of them cheapy double ended plug spanners with a socket stuck on the end.

Yes , I too have an open ended box spanner, as its not designed as a plug spanner, it is shorter, and with a socket on the other end easy to use. You will however need some small pliers to remove the plug out of the hole. For refitting I use a piece of tubing, which grips the top of the plug, and allow to spin in between fingers, this way if it tries to cross thread, the plug wont turn. When the plug is correctly threaded in just pull the tubing off. Have fun

I just use the plug spanner supplied with the bike and a long bladed screwdriver for leverage

... or you can borrow my modified standard tool kit part (c/w with custom tommy bar). I can't get out tonight but could meet you at Fox's tomorrow night (Wednesday) around 7pm?

Loads of tools in the garage, but not one says Yamaha on it, and none came with the bike.

I've never had a problem getting the spark plugs out, not enough to remember how I do it at least. I suspect I use a combinaton of plug socket extension bars and universal joint - pretty certain I don't use the yamaha socket as the tool kit never leaves the bike.

Thanks mate but bought the right one now so no need

but thanks for the offer soon as i get her running again (bloody thing all of a sudden wont start) then i shall MOT it and be out on it and meet you over the cafe for a little ride if your all better now ?

Yes mate ... any weekend I'm free and the weather is OK, I'm up for a ride on the old girl. (But if she's not in the mood I'll take the TRX out for a thrash instead)
