I got to go up to 170.....180 wintertime!!cheesie wrote:test run today I think they are set up too lean, 150 main jets in them for a standard bike, dont knmow if this means with standard pipes and airbox it wont pull hard over 5000 revs and this is were I would of thought the main power would come in what size of mains are you running on your standard motor trixynut and anyone else
Guess what santa clause brought me in the post today?

got a few main jets from br today fitted the 155s and moved the needle clips down a notch, now on third groove from the bottom, next chance I got will test ride it and let you know how its going did anyone else fit seperate filters, as you may have the same problem when I think it feels right I will put it on a dyno for a f/a test and see if it needs more adjustment

well I put the needles back to standard, thought I would try one thing at a time, 155 jets still felt lean but moving in the right direction 158s better still, but perhaps a little close to perfect 160s the bike bogs a little in 4th 5th gear if you whack open throttle from lowish revs but feels right, next step a dyno run, the bike now flys to 9000 rpm in 1st 2nd 3rd, done a plug check with 158s plugs looked fine but what I thought was soot with the 155s was actualy an oily film
so plug check useless I had put a little too much oil in the bike do you think this could be causing that or is it worn rings hope its the first

put it on the dyno today 160 mains were a tad rich as I thought, as was the needle clip position, on the first run 160 mains needle clip in 4th groove middle 86.36 bhp second run 158 mains needle clip raised one groove 3rd from top 89.38 rwhp he only had a run from a tdm 850 to compare, it was at 69 bhp dont know if the tdm had cans and was jetted plus the tdm fell flat at 7000 rpm

I guess it was the current temp in N.Ireland about 3-6 above, although it was inside never seen a dyno outside, the room was def no hotter than outside, the fuel air is still a bit wobbly at small throttle openings but its not to far away we could of worked and got it better but not much, and it certainly feels right on the road they actually make the bike run smoother than standard carbs at small throttle openings

Cheesie my man,
ive been reading your posts with interest and im just wondering 3 things.
What size jets do the fcr's come with as standard, does this mean that they will not be good enough to use even if i get the bike set up on a dyno and will i need to buy bigger jets.
I thought keihin state if you have done no engine mods you dont need to change the jets, appreciate your help mate.
Cheers.
