could also be the vacuum hose to the tap....or the diaphragm in the tap.

How have you gone with this, did you find the problem. Sorry to hijack your thread but I have a very similar problem. The bike has sat for the past 10 or so months. I had pulled it apart to check the timing chain prior to having a shoulder reco and having put it back together over some time now it will start but has no power and when it gets hot it won't idle.

So what did you do to fix yours.

THanks Nigel

Hi Rathy

i ended up changing the fuel, plugs, emulsion tubes , battery. stripped the pump and checked that - stripped the tap and checked the diaphrapm and guaze too.

changed the plugs first then the fuel- ran okay for a while then battery and lastly emulsion tubes that seemed to sort it.
not sure still exacty what it was , could have been the tubes But not convinced it wasnt the battery or the sudden change in bad weather

havent tryed it for a couple of weeks( shall do tonight and let you know )
Its all fun and games till someone gets poked in the eye.

Hi
I had similar problems recently and like you was totally confused , had it to a local garage and they couldnt fix it !
I came on here and spent hours and hours and hours reading through all the posts going back forever for bikes running rough, not starting, backfiring , coughing spluttering etc. and eventually found a fairly common theme running through most of the problems.
Some had gradually got worse, some had run fine and then just stopped but after all the usual things have been tried and checked ie: plugs, fuel, air filter, electrics, kinked hoses, fuel taps, diaphragms the most co mmon fault which manifests in lots of different confusing symptoms is the emulsion tubes, or the needle and needle jet !
I bought some for mine , stripped the carbs and found some corosion on the needle and in the jet was causing them to stick and drag ( same on both carbs ! ) after replacing them the bike starts up on a touch of the button, pulls great, and I get great fuel consumption again.
The bike is smoother and more responsive and really has never felt so good, and i will certainly know where to look in future if I have the same type of problem.
Gotta say a great big thanks to everyone who has posted on here for all the info and advice thats been made available as I dont think i could have solved it without you !
Cheers guys and good luck with your bike friend ...
