:D Billy , checking out to see If daughter can sort out bearings ( she works for a place that packs them, and they do KOYO), If she does the price will probably be a lot cheaper.

Anyone know If an FZR600 front will fit the 750 forks?

Do you mean FZR750 or YZF750?

YZF forks deffo too big

Right now all the blunders have been made right, they ordered me bearings from a pre 99 model wheel and ive got a post 99 wheel!!, ive got the bearings and spacer back in now.

Just to elaborate on honks reply about the spacer should be lightly retained and not flopping about, i dont know whether or not i should nip them up a bit more. The spacer isnt flopping about but if you push it with your finger with medium pressure you can move it, is that tight enough or not please vicar?? :oops:

Bill...

Think about the line of force ...the spindle nut acts on the forkleg, which acts on the inner race which acts on the spacer..other inner race ... other forkleg... spindle flange !

I made the mistake of banging my bearings in too tight (thinking that the wheel machining and bearing sockets would have been worked out with maths) but I ended up with the bearings 'nipped' and therefore running tight as the outer races were out of alignment with the inners (which had been held apart by the spacer...). I - very carefully - knocked the bearings out a snidge which solved the problem.
HOWEVER, you can end up also nipping the bearing by not driving the outer races far enough into the wheel - think :-k about the lines of force applied by the spindle which will also pull the inner race out of alignment...

Get it just right \:D/ and everyone's happy! :cheers:

:D Billy, do you have the old bearings? I need them so that daughter can take them work to see whether they are the same as all the car ones. They possibly do them, but need to know numbers and sizes.
