changing front sprokets

mine was a new chain 110 links ,wheel was pushed forward but not up to the stop ,,it has 18mm of bolt showing on a 17_**_ 42 setup

cheers phuk It is an old chain, I just want to try a few different combinations 16/39 on at the mo and the adjusters are near the end of the swingarm. the only 41t rear I can find is an alloy job

17/43 here.. Sure its a bit peaky, but 3rd gear @ 60km/h is fine..

least i THINK its 43.. either way.

TDM850 will not fit. YZF750 fits but they are huge.

fitted a 42 feels nice allthough had a 41 fitted allready

in reading the above (not sure if i read right), i have stock gearing and chain is a little worn, can i just fit a 42t rear sprocket without any problems? i want to check the gearing is ok before i fit a new chain.

i have contemplated between 16/39 or 17/42 even a 16/40 and from the gearing calculator i see the 42t rear will be a little more revyer (probably un noticable) but since i mainly ride around town and alot of stop/starting, red light racing etc.. this will be good for me.
