Re: Carbs, cans, whats next...?
it is nice to have a one of, bolt ons can be taken of and sold engine work cant, so unless you are def going to keep bike it is money down the drain, my own experince with cams and gas flowing ect dont realy give you much power it just seems to move it from one part of the rev range to another, if I were to do it again but with the trx I would go for big bore, gas flow, lighter rods maybe balanced and lightend crank three angle valve seat not sure on the cams, I am working on suspension until I am 100% happy before I do anything with engine, thing is what size of big bore is best 870 is an extra 20cc worth the trouble 878cc is an extra 8cc gonna do much now 900cc sounds good but surely it will cost a hell of a lot more and its bound to put alot more stress on crank bearings rods ect so maybe they will need to be looked at to cope

For what it's worth i had the head flowed and put new rings in my GSXR (yes I know not a TRX). Gained nothing in hp, but did gain on torque and general driveability, which isn't a TRX problem.
I'd spend my money (as in what I'll give you for your bodywork) on lightening the unsprung bits, start with a set of EBC Prolites, even a 520 chain is supposed to be worth 1bhp.

So unless I wanna spend £1,000 and have the whole motor reworked, it's not worth it, and it looks like I've done all the 'easy' extra power mods really.
Gonna be happy with what I've got and spend the dosh on trackdays and sticky tyres!

It's not just about capacity. The JE kit has an increased deck height - meaning you can run a higher compression without risking valve to piston collision. For my mind this has got to be the best value performance mod after FCR's.... Plus it removes oil consumption problems.cheesie wrote:...thing is what size of big bore is best 870 is an extra 20cc worth the trouble 878cc is an extra 8cc gonna do much now 900cc sounds good but surely it will cost a hell of a lot more and its bound to put alot more stress on crank bearings rods ect so maybe they will need to be looked at to cope
Dave, If it were me I'd forget gas flowing. Big bore the engine, re-cut (or lap) the valve seats and replace the stem seals. You can add cams later if you wish... I might even be persuaded to help you do the job!

Ha ha - you'll have to do far more than that to upset mesteve speed wrote:the term do what you do means just that ,,if spending a £1000 on your engine is what you fancy doing then fine (do what you do )if making your trx into and looking like something that you like thats fine also ,,but perhaps what i should have said is that as a road bike you will get more out of suspension mods for your £1000 than 10bhp from your engine ,i am sorry if i upset you phuk it was not ment to
Agree that suspension mods are the first place to spend money on (Dave has already done that though) and that will make you faster on raod and track

Re: Carbs, cans, whats next...?
the turbo on that bike has a Garrett turbo ,,it will not last two minutes like that ,,the oil feed pipe is not big enough ,the only way it would work is to fit ceramic bearings , and that's a big job ..it also looks like it got a 50mm wheel that enough to power a 12ltr truck ,,but it might be fun watching the engine melt

Re: Carbs, cans, whats next...?
big bore is deff the way to go for street riding but the thing I was trying to put out is say 5bhp and a little torque worth what £600-800, I would like to see the results of it done if its good I might have it done myself seems the head already flows quite well on the trx as no one has gained much in the way of head work and cams and like honk says the cams can always be added at a later date

Re: Carbs, cans, whats next...?
Forget the turbo - get a supercharger. At least there'll be no turbo lag, just power throughout the rev range.
