The ignition pickup is bolted on inside the generator casing. I guess it could have come loose or got knocked if you've had that apart. Otherwise are your leads on the correct plugs? LV side of the coils not crossed over - as that would put the spark timing out.

Did you get to the bottom of what the bang was last time round? Is your valve timing right? Have you checked the cam positions against the T mark on the rotor?

Have you got petrol coming out of the float bowl drains? There is a filter in the fuel line T piece going into the carbs - that could be blocked. You could have a stuck float valve in a carb.

Could it be flooding? Does it stink of petrol? If it does then try it with the throttle wide open to get as much air as possible in there.

Run it on Prime to bypass the vacuum tap.

Thanks youngy, ill have to check all of those things out, to me it seems like timing because, there is spark, but at the wrong time

how much did you strip down? Seems to me that it's most likely your cam timing. good luck!

I doubt its the cam timing because the bike was running, and next day this problem occurred.

And i doubt its the kill switch, because its cranking, and its got a spark.

if you've got fuel, spark and good air then something must have gone all screwy... cam timing hasn't skipped a tooth (unlikely i know), ignition timing isn't way out? not something to do with the TPS?

if you have everything you need, then check to see if you have everything WHEN you need it... if you crank it with the spark plugs (both) out do you see a mist of fuel coming from the hole?

:? When my emulsion tubes decided they had got too big, the plugs looked fine, but I had to put new ones in for it to fire up!, and if it stalled because the revs got too low it wouldnt start, no matter how good the battery was or anything else. Have you checked that the tubes arent worn, i.e looking oval.

Service Manual page 3-19.

When you rebuilt the engine, had you had the genertaor rotor off? did you retorque the bolt properly? did you put the woodruff key back in? Cos if you didn't the rotor could slip on the crank. That would allow the ignition timing to vary. Otherwise, it's fixed.

How do you know your spark is wrongly timed? Compared to what?

honestly, i wouldn't know... i'm just grasping at straws, checking all the things i'd suggest when i'm working with cars... but for these bikes, it's all new to me...

does the TPS have anything to do with this kinda thing? seems to me that's it's there to send a signal to the ignition module... i can only assume it's there as some kinda electronic advance setup... which to me suggests that if it's not setup properly then it could well cause issues... i remember seeing somewhere in the workshop manual that if you turn the bike off, unplug the TPS plug, then conect it and turn it on, honk the horn twice, indicate left, then right then left again, then honk the horn twice more (can't guarantee the acctual sequence there  ) then you put the bike into "TPS Adjust" mode... and then you adjust it till the tacho reads 4000rpm, and that's where it should be... then just turn the bike off, then on again, and try starting it...

but like i said... grasping at straws...

try unplugging the TPS and try starting the bike. iirc the ignition goes to full advance when disconnected.
