W*nker
I've just come back from a fantastic ride with mates from work. We did O'brians road heading into Toodyay. Great bit of road, if a little bit tricky (it claimed the life of Peter Brock). The day got off to a rotten start though. We had organised to meet at a local cafe, and two of the last guys to arrive were followed into the car park by a police bike. They were not speeding or doing anything to atract attention to themselves, but the cop proceded to issue defect notices for things like having too small indicators and fender eleminators. I was inside with a couple of others, so we decided to go for a wander until the prick was gone. I am still expecting a notice in the mail. ( apparently they can do that ) At least I did not have to put up with a condesending lecture about the dangers of cut down mud guards. It was by far and away one of the most discracefull displays of harrasment I have encounted since I have been riding. I have always respected our police, even the traffice cops, but when I continue to witness incrediblly dangerous and stupid driving go unpunished, I feel sickened that some arsehole trys to fill his ticket quota targeting people just going about their business just because he is too lazy or gutless to confront real criminals.

At least the good citizens of Perth can sleep safe in their beds knowing that this wave of crime is being arrested

Re: W*nker
Well let me put it this way, im more afraid of getting robbed, shot, stabbed etc ... then someone on a bike having a cut fender. Police need to catch criminals etc ... not worry about petty things.

Re: W*nker
Neither of my bikes have rear 'fenders'.
The TRX fender I removed, the Shiver came like it from the factory. Presumably the Italians care less about these supposed dangers than the Australians.

According to the ADR (Aust Design Regs) a fender/ mudguard must extend to a point 45 degrees from the centre of the rear axle when measured with a 25kg (I think) load is placed on the riders seat
Cops in the land of our Queen use this rule regularly to defect bikes using our usual mountain haunts. Mind you, I haven't seen any carrying a 25kg weight (except for their fat guts) They don't seem to have a problem with some tosser in a sh!tbox, jacked up Hilux (Rollux) fitting oversize mud tyres beyond the width of the vehicle guards and having no mudflaps
For the SEQlders - there is a dark green 323 Mazdabater (SP23) with tinted windows running up and down the M1 and Gateway containing a Gruntstable with concealed pretty blue lights

Re: W*nker
Do the Australian regs specify how wide that fender has to be? My shiver must qualify because it has a very narrow strip to the rear reflector.
