Wahey good news!
I managed to spur my solicitor into action over getting the bike assessed for which he had to contact the other side's insurer.
Turns out they have admitted liability. They are getting the bike assessed next week and are sending me a payment of £500 in lieu of the claim. Also they will pay the recovery charges.
Soooooooooooo it looks like I may have a few (more) parts for sale.

Assessor just rang me. He's seeing it tomorrow, paying the fees and then the bike will be back with me.

It's good things are moving quickly, much less stressful if nothing else. How's the back?
Might have a few bits

err.. doesn't "in lieu" mean instead of? Be careful there and make sure you're compensated for everything

Yes you're right ... be
very careful as insurance companies can be very two-faced!!!
Plus of course they might ask a small fortune for you to buy the bike off them.
Good that it's moving quickly though

err.....I don't believe "in lieu" means "in stead". That is not my understanding of the situation.
The payment is a goodwill gesture to indicate they're not going to mess me about, as they have admitted liability, and is for the vehicle claim only, not for the personal injury or losses.
They might ask a small fortune to buy back the bike, but then I'll say no won't I? I'm sure there will be negotiation invloved. Compromise, even. I'd prefer to never see it again, but they've said they won't dispose of it, so I have no option but to take it and either rebuild it or break it.
