'90s Yamaha boxes are not GSX-R quality (OTOH, try any 'blade gearbox - putting it into first sounds like hitting the cases with a sledgehammer...), but they don't typically break unless due to other mechanical failure (e.g. chain coming off!), neglect ("what, you have to change the oil?") or incredible hamfooted/fisted operation over an extended period.
So unfortunately it appears your TRX has had a crap owner at some time in the past.

As said, broken chain could cause this. Col on this forum has found that his gear shafts are twisted after a chain break.

thanks youngy nice of you to offer but at the minute i just havn't got the money add in petrol money of about £50 round trip and we are looking at (no other problems aside) £400,though it pains me to say it, it could come down to pure economics,i only gave £1700 for the bike and iv'e already spent to much on it (so the missus say's) powder coated wheels, end cans, r6 brakes new chain and sprockets ,tires etc etc, i will have to go easy and see wot happens, still waiting for the emulsion tubes from kedo been a week and a half,so thats the next job...one step at a time....thanks again...dave

Dave you need to open a photobucket or similar account and then copy and paste the img tag into a message. Or admit defeat and get a mod/admin nazi to do it for you.
If you decide to go ahead with the gearbox work I'll gladly do it.

Excellent news Jak - shame it's not advertised anywhere and that the sticky hasn't been updated.
What do you expect from site admin though eh?
