A "HOWTO" on USD conversions?

when i did mine i did not use any trx bits except for the steering stem ,,but then i did have a complete undamaged R1 front end off my crashed R1,,one thing for sure if you stick to using just R1 bits everything will fit

So it seems like the way to do this job is to start with a complete TRX, and purchase a complete front end from your choice of YZF 750 or any R1?

Then, unless you have your own machine shop, you need (a) to have someone press the TRX stem into the donor yokes and (b) have a spacer made up. I see from our posters here that the R1 front end needs a spacer made up to make the TRX stem up. What about the YZF? I seem to recall that the PB TRX from way back needed some kind of spacer for their YZF conversion - or am I making that up?

You're making it up.... I can assist with a stem swap if need be!

....if you had a YZF and a TRX side by side, and you took the top yoke off both, all the gubbins off the clipons and then removed the two front ends, you'd just need to swap the steering stem in the YZF for the one from the TRX, then you could put the YZF front end into the TRX using all the parts as they were on the YZF, put all the gubbins back on the bars, connect the igintion switch, connect the speedo cable and.....thats it.

this has been covered heaps before, search the forum, ive done a R1 conversion.

www.tr1x.org and have a look. theres pics and a bit of info. Please excuse the page, its a bit of work in progress. I have a widescreen 1920x1200 res, so it WILL look goofy unless you have the same (24" Dell LCD)
