EXPANSION TANK

Post by funnymachine » Sun Jun 29, 2008 3:35 pm

What does the expansion tank do?

And do I need one?

Can I get away with running without it - or can I use another tank - if so what specs?

Thanks

Mark

You need an expansion tank. you can use pretty much anything. it needs an overflow/vent pipe.

okay thanks - I am just totally thrown by the fact that I took off the radiator and the expansion tank is still full of juice

I guess the tank is below the rad which is weird

does it run on a syphon principle?

as long as my air vent is above top of radiator can it be anywhere on the bike?

under engine?

if I don't have one at all and just vent it to the floor what will happen exactly?

Radiator additives are slippery and you don't want it on your back tyre

okay got you - slippery stuff and tyres don't mix

this is why my Honda DAX has an oil breather directly in front of the rear wheel no doubt

Does anyone know who manufactures a good expansion tank?

Get a drink bottle for a push bike with the frame and just mount the frame to the fairing bracket..slip the bottle Inplace and slot the hose into the lid
