Frame Alignment Question?

Just a few quick questions....I was looking at my replacement frame just today and realised that the front section is out of square. As in when looking at the section below where the tank would normally go from a bird's-eye-view, the left side of the frame angles outwards (top to bottom) whereas the oposite side does not (or no-where near as much)!! Has anyone else noticed this? Is this normal, or have I been sold a bent frame? And if this is normal, does anyone know the reason as to why this was done?

I don't know about the TRX, but it's not unusual for frames have assymetrical engine mounts. The SZR660 has offset front mounts, biased to the left if I remember (looking down through the frame from above).

Have you tried measuring your frames up? Bottom of headstock to engine mounts and between the frame rails will give you an indication if the frame's poop or not.

Yes, it's normal. I freaked out when pulling my bike apart after a crash thinking I had really stuffed the frame, but it's meant to be like that. Not sure why though.

^^^^^^^ What he said, Its meant to be like that, presumably you will find that the engines off set to fit, all makes sense when put together.

Just off on a tangent maybe but I noticed the first few times I rode my trx when I bought it(especially in the rain while being a lttle more sensitive to the feel of whats happening under me plus hadn't ridden for a coupla years) it tended to want to pull itself back upright just a little when rolling on the throttle through a corner(only one way tho not the other,i think??? it may have been through left hand corners). Could this be to compensate for and throw from the motor and chaindrive on the left hand side???
Like you see a car motor twist when reving on it's engine mounts..
Even tho as such it's an east ,west motor sitting in the frame it's still been driven from the left and solid mounting so any torque(mmm is that the right word??)would manifest through the frame..
I'm always one to look out there at any possibilities and to keep an open mind.... Or is this just my sensitive nature

Yep it's true. Also noticeable when you mount crash pads, one short and one long one .. at first I was like

Hmmm, I thought the longer crash pad (on the left side) is because of the alternator protruding from the engine case more than the clutch does on the right side
(Or did you mount the longer one on the right side )

And like

Wouldn't that mean that the shorter knob should be on the left side - but then it would make less sense with the more protruding alternator

Who can enlighten us with this?

GEEE what planet was I on when I aired my thoughts.. Well dont ask, dont know. NOW KNOW also slight twist in forks (via tripple tree)possibly causing that lifting feeling thro corners on one side when first bought coupla yrs ago
