Mikuni Diaphragms and flatsides

Where is the best place to get Mikuni parts from? Yamaha or is there an after market supplier? I found a split in one of my diaphragms in the carbs on the weekend and need to replace it. Are they a pricey item at all?

Edit: Yamaha want $124.40 EACH! Had a look around there doesn't seem to be anywhere else in Australia that is carrying them. Came across these guys though http://www.mikunioz.com/mikunioz.htm which when exploring there website prompted the question, why do the Keihein flatsides get the nod over the Mikuni flatsides. Is it purely a build quality thing or is the performance just that little bet better with the Keiheins?

The only place I know to get Mikuni parts from (and therefore the best for me ) is Stephen Topham in Germany.

(Unfortunately [for you ] his website is only in German ...)

Don't know whether he is shipping outside Europe and to what conditions.

If you'd be interested I could call him and ask ...

Any info would be awesome Holer! Not sure if it would end up cheaper than here, but you never know. I have thought about just buying a cheap set of cv's from the wreckers (dismantlers for you from the north) or off Ebay or similar and getting the diaphragms out of them if they are in good Condition. I should check the other side and see if that is needed as well.

Anyone got any comments/answers on the flatside question?

I just talked to an employee at Topham (she was very friendly and had quite a nice voice!) and she said that shipping to Australia would be no problem!

As to the costs:

A single diaphragm (without the slider!) costs EUR 18,37 (without VAT);
shipping costs for two diaphragms (is this the correct plural?) would be only about EUR 4,- to 8,- 'cause of the small weight (they would be sent in a cushioned envelope).

If you'd need the diaphragms with the sliders then the price for one is EUR 60,53 (without VAT);
The shipping costs would be (what a surprise) higher and she had to calculate them first. Then I said I'd give you these information first and then we'll see.

If you'd order them at Topham, an English e-mail (topham{at}mikuni-topham.de) would be fine and you'd have to pay in advance.

According to this currency converter 1 AUD is app. 0,50 EUR.

He's ace, Stephen, and I believe he's speaking the Queen's linga better than me, suspect he's an ex-pat... Delivery to Swden has never been any problem, even sent my FCRs for overhaul to him, and they returned with even more things corrected than agreed on, but for the agreed cost. Can only recommend their services!

Thanks for the help Holer and the recommendation Hans. I'll have to do the full inspection this weekend. I am hoping it is just the one diaphragm and that it is easy to seperate from the slide. Boy that little bit of plastic is pricey!
