USD conversion query !

hi guys and gals, another question regarding my on going fork conversion project ! I now have R1 usd forks, a thunderace wheel so I can keep the mechanical speedo (yep I know I'll have to machine the inside of the fork bottom to accommodate the speedo drive) but my next question is what disk's do I use ? R1 or Thunderace (or are they the same) the forks are 2000 model. Any ideas folks ?

search should reveal all of the answers you require but ......

the answer to the question depends on fitment - I'm pretty sure T Ace discs are different to R1 discs so you'll need to go with what fits the wheel.

If they both fit (or indeed any other make) then go with those that require the minimum amount of spacing to ensure caliper alignment

It's all in the offset ...

I used a Thunderarse front wheel and R1 (298mm) discs... the discs are flat, ie no offset (look at a standard TRX disc for comparison...) and bolt staight on.

Thanks for that Greg, I'll have a look for some R1 disks, I think from looking at the wheel the pcd for the mounting bolts is the same, once I've got all the bits I'll post a series of pics and scans of any drawings for stem and spacers.

Thunder ace and R1 disks are the same, I fitted a PFM kit off a thunderace on the R1 wheel i have, codes are the same on the pfm website.

That is R1 forks, Thunderace wheel, Thunderace discs and Thunderace calipers.... straight bolt-on job plus the machining of the left leg for the speedo drive.
