Gearing again - 16-40

Post by Killerwhale » Thu Apr 09, 2009 5:14 pm

Checked that gearing today in different rpm....
If anyone interested here are the findings....
8k rpm = 200km/h
9k rpm = 220km/h

Could have gone further but then i would not know the rpm.....

Yer I found out exactly the same when I got rid of the air Filter box .. Before it would stop pulling round 8750rpm at approx 215km but with that big black chunk of plastic now used to grow my herbs in and blue bellmouths inplace on the fcr's I'm backing off at 9000rpm at 220kph with a 16/40 gearing. (std 60series tyres) Cant wait to try it again with my new big bore exhaust fitted,,wooohooo..
JUST AS A NOTE TO ALL TO REMEMBER
If running 70 series tyres tho you would have to add approx 5 or 6 kph on top of every 100kph.(due to the taller wall creating a larger diameter) extra from memory after checking out stuff on the gearing commander on here.. (thats originally why I went to a 40 rear sprocket to accomidate for the taller tyre and keep rpm/kph at same if running std 60series)

Yes as I thought after just checking once again on the gearingcommander in the tec tips thread.. 7500rpm top gear with 60 series tyres 198kph... but 7500rpm with 70 series tyres 208.2kph ...
so all with 70 series tyres fitted..just be aware of the speedo default.. 60kph reading on speedo=63kph 100kph=105kph.. beware of radar and spedtraps and have a good easter break.. :D :D
