a 900 engine and proper brakes and suspension and at the right price ,it would be a real winner for yamaha, but they all seem to be chasing 160 bhp that you cant use on the roads of today or any other day

TRX850 ,The thinking mans R1

It's a bit of an "by our man Phil Space". Think of bikes everyone's completely forgotten about and give me a page of copy please sub. I'm on record as loving the idea of an SZR, but come on, no-one except me and a bunch of KTM Duke fans would buy it. Evidence: they actually built it and no-one bought it. Yes, I know, except a couple of people on here who also (still) own TRXs.
It just seems like the TRX is being damned by faint praise here.

It could be so easy, it's just how they did before: design a new frame to fit a TDM900 engine, R6/R1 forks, suspension and brakes. The fairing, lights and mirrors are easily taken from the FZ6/FZ1 Fazer shelf. Or from the new Diversion.steve speed wrote:a 900 engine and proper brakes and suspension and at the right price ,it would be a real winner for yamaha, but they all seem to be chasing 160 bhp that you cant use on the roads of today or any other day![]()
There, it's anything you need, right?
There are more examples: XS500, XZ550, GTS1000. Might add the BT1100 Bulldog too.idl1975 wrote: It's a bit of an "by our man Phil Space". What about the new BMW F800R? It's a parallel twin, decent brakes, 80bhp... granted not a Yam, more of a modern version?

Re: MCN want to bring back the TRX!!
The F800's the ultimate backhanded compliment - BMW copying the TRX. Look at their G-series "streetmoto", which just happens to be a near carbon-copy of a KTM Duke II...FANDANGO wrote:What about the new BMW F800R?
