The TRX Owns it!!!!!

Post by troublemaker » Fri Apr 24, 2009 3:32 am

So i went out with a mate and a few of his mates for a ride yesterday, late evening, the lineup was,

me and my TRX850, a 2002 ZX6R, 2002 GSXR1000, 1998 ZX9R and a 2007 GSXR750.

Met my mate (with the ZX6) at his house, and a few of his mates were there - all of the guys were cool other than billy big bollox with the Gixxer 750.

So we went out for a ride, me expecting to get obliterated (i sold my ZX9R to the guy above to buy the Teeerex) and well......

The only place i was even vaugely left was on the dual carriageway stint (privately owned of course) - but even so i got up to 140 and kept it there, although the IL4's were pulling away loads over 110.

However around town it was a different story - every roundabout or set of lights i was off quicker, and was coming out of bends getting on the power earlier and up to 80-90 the TRX was the fastest bike out of all but the GSXR1000, which to be honest the guy wasn't having much fun on as its too fast to use on the road.

I got back to the house first grinning like a cheshire cat, and well, there was not a bad word to be said about my bike - people loved the fact that it was so immediately fast low down, and could outbrake all the sports bikes (if you havent dont the R1 full swop with master cylinder, do it. NOW!) at stops.

The funniest thing was the Billy with the 750 above. he started bigging up his riding to us (even though we were all in convoy) and going on about some corner or the other where he had to "back of cos his knee was almost down and the rear was sliding" - to which my mate said "wasnt that the corner where dave went round you on the outside" hahahah. He left shortly after that :D:D

So i came back a happy happy bunny. I have already been told "if you sell it - let me know" by 2 of them......to which i replied "not yet a while"

incidentally - the Gixxer thou owner keeps coming over mine to see me, and then liberates the keys from mine as soon as he can! Comedy genius - that said while his bike is fast, it bores me senseless!

Yep,fours are like sewing machines as far as I`m concerned, never been my cup of tea either.
Although as you say, very fast at the top end.
But where can you use all that power and speed, race track or drag strip only if you want to keep your licence.
I admire technology and engineering but I admire a bike that`s `useable`,give me a bike with a punchy power delivery and a bit different from the norm and I`m happy.

Nice story there mate. Totally agree: useable power rules! When in the real world do you need more than 130-140 mph or anything north of about 100bhp!!

:D Yep TRX's for real world, the only bike I had that beat it out here was the Husaberg, but thats only coz the roads sink into the fields and you can control the airborne antics better.

TRXs rule! I love tales of biking derring do from blowhards- 'Yeah man, I was kneeing it and the back was sliding pushing the front.' One look over their bike and, hmmm, tyre says 'no' Good stuff :D

Thats right anyone can go fast in a straight line..lol.. The art is in dancing through the corners braking into those curves and getting the power down again coming out. I was converted over 20yrs ago to that useable torque from twins and have never looked back. So much lighter too at 170kg compared to some of the larger more powerful tanks. Great story by the way..
