Fuel leaking from head/exhaust!

Cheers Stormy. I'm glad i'm not the only one who's had this problem. I was going to have a look at the pump this weekend. Fingers crossed I may get the bike running soon. The sooner it's running the sooner it's going to get a wash!

If it (the diaphragm) is holed, spares are NOT available, it's a new pump job.

I`m wondering if thin sheet viton will do the job,you can buy it from gasket suppliers or indeed try getting some diaphragm synthetic rubber laminate it IS available.
I`ve found this link for interest:

Most materials are available,it`s just a matter of tracking them down.
I HATE paying for a spare part that can be repaired just as effectively.

Just a couple of queries, wouldnt fuel come out the overflow pipe if floats are stuck? If fuel pump diaphram was holed wouldnt it fill RH cylinder only? May be both tap and pump diaphrams holed remove vacuum hoes from both cylinders and check for fuel. I know both gone together is a longshot but you have got a unusual problem. P.S your engine oil could be contaminated with raw fuel.

I wouldn`t run the bike AT ALL with the fuel loss it`s been showing.
I would find the problem,sort it,drain the `thinned` oil,fill with cheap supermarket stuff,start and warm the motor through,then drain that out,change oil filter and fill with a good quality semi-synthetic.
Petrol washed bores will soon cause accelerated wear,possibly heat seizure and I really don`t believe you want to do that,eh,eh,eh?

I've see a coulple go on ebay for about 20 quid but i didn't buy till i was sure i needed one. Wished i'd brought one now as i'd be riding my trx to work tomorrow.

Still, not long to go now. Fuel pump and a wash and it'll be tip top (ish)

The seal that's perrished would be very easy to make a copy of if you can get some of the same rubber sheet. I'll look into the link earlier and what's what.

..not had it open as three screws are ok but one is a bit stuck. Put some 3-1 oil on it so could probably get it out tomorrow with a bit of time.

Let me know if it's ok as is on the 'refund' basis, or if you want me to open it up?

Hi Dave. Don't worry about opening it up. One of the screws on mine sheard off very easily. Send it over and I'll have a look here. I've got 3 good spare screws if it needs it. I'll PM you my details.

Stormy you smart arse! You could have told me that in March! The bike's been going great since, i've even washed it. If anyone ever needs to make their own gasket/membrane/seal thing the viton sheet is about £16 for way more than you'll need.
