Pod Filters fitted to standard carb?

Has anyone fitted Pod Filters to a standard carburetor?

I'm starting to convert a 97 model TRXer into a track bike and looking to remove as much weight as possible. I'm considering replacing the Air Box with a couple of Pod Filters.

A few posts on the site have varying threads relating to Pod Filters. However, I cannot seem to find any information relating to the relevance/importance of the Air Box "Resonance". I understand (if understood correctly) that Pod Filters fitted to a standard carburetor may not achieve the required "Resonance"????? is this an important issue or can I simply fit the Pod Filters to the standard carburetor?

You CAN fit pod/individual filters yes,many have fitted them here I believe.
You might find though that the stock cv`s `gasp` a little,especially if strong winds are encountered,they prefer relatively `still` air.
I had a stock airbox with a K&N slot-in filter fitted,packed the tank UP on it`s front mounting by 5mm,removed the `trumpet` from the airbox and all that bl**dy foam,also ultrasonically cleaned the carbs,set the float heights(15 mm to the top of the smaller of the two floats)and checked the jetting/fuelling etc.
It made 77 bhp on the dyno with those mods,(and some wear evident in the emulsion tubes)but when I fitted the FCR`s they released another 11 horses!
I`ve got 150mm long dual stage foam Ramair/Janspeed single sock filters on my FCR`s they suit it well.
I`m sure it was Phuk72 who did rather a lot of airbox mods and various tinkering to achieve some success,perhaps he`ll be along to explain?

I might have mentioned something about "cylinder robbing" Its a phenominen, especially in big twins, of some of the intake mixture goes back into the airbox when the inlet valve snaps shut. If there's no airbox then the other cylinder doesn't benefit from the "lost" gas. It's especially useful at low RPM

So is this also gained if using a twinsox filter like a RAMAIR type on FCR's with bellmouths??? (Being a single sox covering both bellmouths) Makes sense in theory????

It should in theory but I wonder if it'll still lose some out to atmosphere through the foam. I saw/listened to mincey's bike today with FCRs and individual filters - the air was rich with the stench of fuel as he blipped it to impresss the local wildlife........................

Indeed,the wildlife loved it too,from a distance!
Yes,we spoke of the effects and gas losses,also that much of the slide `rattle` could be equalised if you like,power pulses cancelling out one another etc.
I`m going to give it some thought.
