yes it is easier, but the nut is not the problem. Ah now I understand the misunderstanding in your earlier post. The nuts come off easily, its the flange that is rock-solid corroded to the studs.
So if I cut off the top of the stud, it 's still stuck!

you could use a small hole saw without the centre bit so long as it goes over the stud, just,, it will work

go to your local engineering supplies shop they will have what you need

Steve`s correct,a small hole saw will do it for sure but it`ll take a while.
Those stock flanges are bloody thick!
Alternatively if you angle grind the edge of the flange that runs outboard of the stud diameter,again you`ll be taking off a half circle piece of the flange(in fact it`ll look more like a crescent shape),you`ll likely release the flanges `grip` on the stud,option 4 on your drawing in an earlier post.
Any tyre and exhaust dealerships near you?
Whip the bike down to them for a good `rattling` from an air chisel,I guarantee the constant vibrations will soon break the rust/corrosion bond between the studs and the flanges.

I had this problem today and resorted to heat on the flange, gently movin,dont heat up one spot too much flanges are ally! Then got cold chisel between back of flange and the head near the bolt one side and the other and tap quite firmly to release the flanges then with the rear of the downpipes unbolted wiggled them up and down till they released from the head, takes a bit of time and you have to remain calm but patience paid off and didnt have to resort to cutting any thing, hope this helps! Also a can of superbreak or if you cant get that wd40 left to soak into the bolt threads for a good while helps!!

Without drilling or cutting! Even without using a hammer. Well I used but it didn't help at all.
To wiggle does the trick. I used this "tool", which is actually meant for laminate



I'm pointing to the place were I used the 'tool' to wiggle the bastard flanges off.

I found it interesting to see that it's not exactly corrosion that causes troubles, it's more like sand and dirt getting into the holes of the flanges via the top of it (on the engine side).
