Blowing fuse

1997 TRX.
The fuse for temp gauge, rev counter, indicators and (the only really important bit) brake light keeps blowing. Eg. 40miles used 3 fuses.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Intermittent faults like this can be very frustrating to sort out. Did you notice if the fuse blowing coincided with any particular action?eg. indicator use,horn use,brake use or the bars were turned to one side etc.If so this at least narrows your search area.Basically you will have to search along the loom on all the circuits connected to that fuse searching for pinched wires/worn insulation.If you cant see anything obvious fit a new fuse,turn on the power and starting at the wiring leading to the instruments and switchgear shake the loom around gently to see if you can get the fuse to blow.Do the same to the wiring to indicators and brake light(with them activated).Dont forget the back brake and horn wiring.Try to narrow down your search area.If you have no luck,you may have to remove tank/panels to search the rest of the loom from the fuse.

Thanks Lenny that's very helpful. I'm pretty sure it'll blow without me using brakes or indicators or horn. I don't really understand electrics so please excuse me if this is a stupid question... does that mean it can't be any of the above?

Unfortunately, no it doesn't rule out any circuit that gets power from that fuse.
