Blue spot anti chatter plates

Post by AHTHUD » Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:28 am

Heres one for you all. Do you think it is safe to run blue spot calipers without the anti chatter plate (this is the sprung steel plate that sits on top of the pads and is retained by the single pad pin).

Are they only there to stop pad squeal and chatter or do you think they are more important to the operation of the brake than that.

You may have seen my post in the wanted section for a pair of these as the blue spots I bought of Flea bay didn't have them. Not a problem I thought until I found out they are £15 each from Yamaha.

Do you know what to do when your dogs barking at the back door and your wife's shouting at the front door?

Let the dog in. At least when that gets in the house it will shut up

I run my bike since a year ago without the plates. No problems so far, supposedly running without helps cooling... But main thing, I've had no probs so far!

I run the track TRX without them as well. Experienced no problems whatsoever. And it makes it a lot easier to check brake pad wear

Thanks for the responses. It'll save me forking out £30 for a pair. Cheers.
