strange vibration

Hi,

Not been on for a while as Trixie running fine up to now.

A few days ago was out on bike and noticed a regular vibration through the pegs.
Seemed too slow for the wheel revs, more like the chain. Cut the motor and still there, not related to
gear selection, definately speed related. First thought, tight link or something stuck on chain.

I remember it happend two or three years ago, cleaned and oiled chain, it went away. Tried same again
but still there. Checked brake disc, seemed okay, can't feel anything turning wheel when on paddock stand.
Cleaned behind front sprocket cover, no better.

So, maybe wheel bearing? How can I check this?

Any other ideas?

Hi Pault,

Just taking a stab here but rather that just a tight link it could be a slightly overtensioned chain loading the countershaft bearing. That can cause that type of regular vibration, as you said slower than wheel speed. Have you checked chain deflection at the tightest spot on the chain? Does the bike pulse or hunt slightly at very low speed?

Hi again,

Checked chain, maybe a touch tight so adjusted it, oiled it, no difference. Went for a quick ride and still there.
Can feel it though pegs and seat,doesn't seem to affect performance, in fact Trixie is going rather well apart
from this vibration. My friend, ZZR1100, said I as hooning along!! Must sort it as a bit worried about some serious
damage being done, or something breaking and me falling off, can't afford to be off work etc. So any other
ideas out there.

Any suggestions welcome.

P.S. My dogs called Trixie as well, and she is on fine form at the moment after losing 8 kilos in weight in 6 months after
being ill for a while!!

my guess after my weekend just gone is wheel bearing take the wheel out and feel them by hand my right hand one was shot

while your at it have a look at the gearbox sprocket has not come undone

...and maybe to easy, that you have not lost a balance weight on wheels...
