Well I got my dream bike yesterday. Ive never ridden a TRX before but always wanted one. Its an import with k&n and scorpion cans gave 75bhp on the dyno at 7500rpm Is this good/bad /normal? Also I find that the throttle is very jerky at town speeds what will help this? It also feels sluggish to turn in to corners. I know about the search button but couldnt find any answers. I will drop the gearing to the recommended 17/41 or 16/40.

Hi Kenny,

Regarding the slow turning, I found that raising the rear of the bike by 20mm using shorter dogbones and dropping the front so that there's 20mm showing above the clip-ons makes the bike far more willing to turn and hold a line. You'll probably also find that the standard forks are crap once you start to push them hard. What tyres are on your bike (and have you checked the pressures?) A few psi low on the front and it won't turn in properly.

As for the jerky throttle, it could be the emulsion tubes are worn, the carbs could need balancing or the throttle cables might be out of adjustment. The standard gearing doesn't help here, I find that first is just too low and second is just too high for 30mph.

Hello Kenny. If your chain tension is correct & all cables are free with slack taken out of them then the jerky town speeds is most likely worn emulsion tubes in yer carbs. 40 quid a pair from Yamaha or the same for factory pro ones. 1st thing I did to mine was drop the front down the fork tubes to make the steering a bit quicker, it made a helluva difference for me.

I think 75bhp is about right so no worries there.
You will spend hours on here looking for ways to improve your TRX, I know I did.

Thanx guyz Ive added a pic in my avatar. The colour will be changed soon to maybe yellow speedblock or focus orange/gunmetal speedblocks. It has R1 calipers already. If I change to the factory emulsion tubes will I need to rejet it?

Welcome aboard!

1. Power output @ 75 is average, no probs

2. Slow turn-in: drop the front or raise the back. Depends what you're comparing it to/your previous bike tho. Check tyres aren't 'squared off' too.

3. Snatchy around town: check throttle cable 'slack' and chain tension as they're sensitive to both. Then maybe go one tooth less on front sprocket. Personally, I like a bit of snatch

4. Bike colour. In-yer-face orange!! I like it, keep it!

No need to re-jet with Factory Pro tubes Kenny they're the same as Yamaha ones but nickel plated (I think) to last longer.
I wouldn't change the colour if it were my bike, looks cool as f**k to me.

Welcome to here.
One thing you should aquaint yourself with is the proper procudure for checking the oil level.

If you are unfamiliar with dry sump m/cycle engines, you need to check the oil level after at least a run of 10 mins or so and I always check the level with the engine running, although opinions vary on whether the engine should be running or stopped.

Ultimately first lesson I learnt was front springs...If the progressive springs have been replaced with something more sports orientaited the benifits are noticable straight away ... Lest when you push it its not like a belly dancing session..

What's the frame number on your bike Kenny? 4UN is a UK bike, 4NX is a Japanese import. I'm asking as the frame on yours is silver and I think all the imports had either white or red frames. A lot (all?) of the UK bikes had speedos which read in km rather than miles.

4UN is a UK bike. You'd have probably run into the speedo restriction at 112mph already if it was a 4NX Japanese import

And you will know when you hit the limiter!!!! welcome aboard. re the questions you've asked everyone has answered them above.
The TRX is not your usual Japanese IL4 though, Its a parts bin special made to emulate the Ducati's of the early 1990's except its more reliable and runs better (even at low speeds!).
You will no doubt alter it to your liking, but stick with the orange, looks like you have been tango'd, matching leathers next!!!
