Anybody seen this months PB? (TRX related)

Post by earywig » Sun Nov 29, 2009 8:45 pm

Under the heading of 'The 2010 Bikes They Should Build' is a rather nice mockup of a TRX900. It seems to be a bit of a favourite of theirs at the moment, also being one of the 100 bikes that should be ridden before you die.

Could this please be scanned and posted.

We have something similar here...our "RAPID" magazine (based around performance/modified bikes) has a computer generated mock-up of the "NEW" TRX. They've created it with the assumption of adding an under-slung exhaust, 878cc big bore kit (attached to an original capacity engine) and high comp pistons, fuel injection, and Ram-Air. Claiming that it could produce around 120bhp.

Personally not fussed on the styling (although they have kept the trellis frame - which would have to be a must) as there is too much of a aerodynamic feel about the bike - which is in my opinion NOT TRX.

Anyway, if I can I will scan this page a post it, although this may take a while - so if someone else would wish to do so I would not be disappointed
Understeer - when you hit the fence with the front of the bike.
Oversteer - when you hit the fence with the rear of the bike.
Horsepower - how fast you hit the fence.
Torque - how far you take the fence with you.

Ahhh, I see. That it was. What a scheme. Wouldn't it be nice to get different people's opinion on these fantasy bikes though. :D

Fairing looks like a modernised SZR660 job to me. I actually quite like this concept bike/mock up in this month's PB and feel it keeps the spirit of the TRX but brings it up to date. That said the original ever be bettered.....

It's not too bad. Front/side edge of fairing could come down a bit just enough to cover the bottom of the radiator. Screen a little taller. The rear swingarm without the brace on top would be okay too. Haven't made up my mind about the belly pan but I do like the under slung exhaust.

120hp ? Wow.. big claims from 878cc.

Im not a huge fan of that. Its too.. err.. Sci-Fi for me. Its like something hollywood would make for some trashy futuristic movie. I think its mainly the front.. If it were bigger it might suit better. Also, i like the bigger TRX tank. Its what makes it unique.
Its good, im just not a fan.

I'd buy 2!

Just wondering why they don't want to put a tuned 900 in it, instead of a tuned 850?

coz the monkies at PB towers know nothing of bikes that aren't given to them with a spec sheet by a marketing firm!

Their top 100 write up of the TRX was utter shite and written with abosutely no knowledge of the actual bike. And they were hardly complimentary about the TRX whenever they reviewed it - in fact I'm bloody certain that they rated the TRX last in a review when it was against an SV650 and a Duke 900SS!

It also has desmo valve setup, the crank is less than half the weight, and can spin MUCH easier. I do believe it can do 135hp, but im sceptical of the TRX donk being able to put out more than about 120hp unless you are doing some SERIOUS internal modifications.

Still, if the front fairing was larger, or stood taller, id like it. Its just a bit too flat / squashed looking.

I quite like it and if they ever released it I'd have one.But they never will because the Japanese bike manafacturers know what sort of bikes we want even more so than we do ourselves. They know that we all really want butt ugly naked bikes with 4 cylinders, or track focused sports bikes again with 4 cylinders,or if we want a twin it has to be a big fat heavy massey davidson copy.
I am looking to buy a new bike when I can raise the required folding stuff but it has to be a twin so it doesn't look like its going to be Japanese.
