5.5 inch rim on TRX swingarm??

Post by schmiffee » Sun Dec 27, 2009 5:44 am

I am in the process of modding the rear end on my TRX (putting a 748 tail on it) and as such, the standard 160 rear tyre on the back looks very narrow. I have searched around here and found that some have said the YZF750 rear rim MAY fit with some spacers or such. Has anyone done this and if so, what mod's were needed.

If you have looked around, I am tossing up doing this OR fitting the whole rear swingarm AND rim from a YZF750R. What woul be the best option, and also which would be the easiest option.

Cheers,

Schmiffee

The spare wheels I got off kev the other week, the rear had a avon 170/60 series fitted and he seemed quite contented with the way it felt giving him no trouble at all so may be a happy medium... Lot of previous chat recently about handling characteristics of the 180 rear wheel compared to the standard 160 so I'll be keen to put the 170 through its paces(new tyre too 8) )

I think it is easier to put in the swingarm with the wheel, because you don't need to make spacers etc., just use the standard YZF hub/axle/etc.
I've done this myself, read on from here:

But I am in doubt about the effect!
