If you have the same stacks as these then MS-009 is the correct filter

I don't have the same stacks because I have Mikuni TDMR flatslides, but I suppose the dimensions will be more or less the same.

I have the Mikunis too, and use this filter since a couple of years. In other words, it fits!

(OTH, i am considering going back to some sort of airbox solution, in order to gain mid-range power... Peak figures look good, but grunt works better )

Call me stupid, but I'm still not convinced.
Why? I'll show you.

The shaded area present the carbs. The upper half is the MS-011 (which is too big), the lower half is the MS-017/-018 (listed with exactly the same sizes). The holes of the lower one are too small, but the space between the holes matched quite nicely with the carbs. So, if the holes are cut out to the right size, this will fit.

Now I will make the MS-009, which appears to be very popular around here.


Here you go: the MS-009 is too small between the holes.

Now wait a minute, the sizes on the website actually are in millimeter, right?!
You never know with those UK people...

Looks better, sounds better, and performs better without the filters, no doubt! (I recall from a testrun on the dyno, ca +2 RWHP without filters, can be wrong) But for road use, naahh...

The MS09 is a bit too small, you actually see it in Bob's pics where they're mounted. The outside walls are too tight. My filters keep sliding downwards too (something that could be fixed easily though), apart from having the "walls" too close, so i reckon either a bigger filter, or even an airbox, which won't disturb the airflow close to the stacks is the way to go. Been playing with the thought of building my own airbox, that should encapsule the carbs completely, but time is a scarce thing...

Get whatever size You reckon is the best, just because everyone has chosen one model doesn't necessarily mean it is the best. Just check that you have enough space under the tank! You probably could get the 011 since the stacks are wider in the upper part, as long as you manage to keep the filter as high as possible on the stacks?

It 's hard to find a supplier of RamAir filters here in NL, I was suggested to look at pipercross filters but I can't figure out any dimensions of them.

Hey smartboy, that's the website I got the measurements from to start with.
Send them an e-mail a couple of days ago, seems they don't reply e-mails. They don't seem to offer online ordering either. Maybe I should give them a call myself.

Yes, finally the postman brought me something!


The filter has a perfect snug fit. The "neck diameters" are smaller than the bellmouths (see extra filter on the right), but because of that, I don't have to use clamps or anything like that. There was no need to cut out the holes at all, it just slips over the bellmouths nicely.

The only thing is they don't supply the filteroil with it. The filter has to be oiled in, right? I suppose there is no harm in using K&N oil.
Edit: Okay, it doesn't need to be oiled, the foam is already treated.

Do the bellmouths go clear from the filter's sidewalls? The one I have even stretches the filter slightly, and I suppose this disturbs the airflow into the bellmouths.

No they're not clear from the sidewalls, the width of this filter (MS-018) is exactly the same as the MS-009. In fact, the sizes (heigth, width) of all MS-type filters are pretty much the same.

I made an appointment for a dynorun. I contacted this guy because I read somewhere he raced TRX's himself. So I was expecting some enthousiatic response, but instead of that he started telling me that regular CV carbs are way better for street use than flatslides. Oh and that Keihins are better than Mikuni TDMR's of course. Sigh.
