Oil Change

Hi all probably a dumb question but - when changing the oil, the manuals all reckon about 3.5litres with oil filter. I warmed the engine up and drained it from the sump, but did not get anything like 3,5 litres. Also did not take anything like 3.5ltres to fill up. What am I doing wrong?

Did you open BOTH drainplugs??
