Remind me someone?
What clutch/brake lever mounts do you need to mount Pazzo type levers on a TRX. Any particualr year R1 or R6? Is there any wiring invovled or is it a straight swap out? I've searched but can't find the discussion I recall reading on this subject a while back!
My interest has been reinvigorated by these, available via eGay and HK!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YZF-R6-R1-FZ1-CNC ... 6645558181
A few on the PB forum have bought them and the quality is spot on apparently...at a 1/5th of the price of the pukka item! £150 would smart if/when I sling my TRX down the road/track. £30 is neither here nor there!!
Off to search some more!

Re: Remind me someone?
OK, search has been more successful this time, no idea what happened there!
R6 clutch and brake mounts it is then. Presumably earlier models are the ones to go for i.e 1998-2003 or 4?
Now the two wire plugs on both the TRX levers. Do they plug straight in to the R6 levers or do you need to cut/solder into the R6 connectors? Obviously the brake one is for the brake light. Is the clutch one for the sidestand cutout? Some pointers appreciated from those who've done the conversion.
Cheers, Corners....off to search for some 2nd hand R6 levers and mounts!!

Re: Remind me someone?
Either R1 or R6 will work, not sure of years but any of the cable clutch mountings should be yamaha cable generic, at the lever end anyway.
I have Pazzo`s on mine the now but might not after I`ve fitted my R1 front end, I`m saving hard for some ISR goodies, radial M/C and clutch mounting/lever, top kit and ISR are a bloody good company that make plenty of quality stuff:

Mincehead:
Thanks for the clarification. I'd be interested in your R1 clutch/brake mounts as and when you do your conversion, if I've not got any in the interim. E-mail me at 'cornersrus@blueyonder.co.uk'.
Is there any wiring work required to retain the TRX brake/clutch wiring?
Thanks again.

Re: Remind me someone?
I`m currently running a 19mm (3/4") Suzuki radial m/c with a brake lamp switch found at an autojumble and modified along with the lever to suit.
It`s not great for feel though, too big a diameter piston but grab a handful and the old girl will stop alright.
As for the cluch switch mullarky it`s non existent, as is the sidestand cut out gubbins, I find stuff like that so unnecessary. After 40 years + on bikes I know when a fookin sidestand`s down and it`s all less electrical gubbins to go wrong too.

Also run a 19mm (PT pump), brakes alright but i felt i needed some diversity (rain, dry, track) so just bought the ISR pump where you can change it with a dial on the fly....should be interesting....

The ISR kit is sexy stuff killerwhale, let me know how you find it.I`ve heard nothing but praise for their products.
Of great interest to me and likely another member who I cannot remember the now are ISR`s hubs to allow anyone to build up some nice, lightweight flanged alloy rimmed spoked wheels:

Re: Remind me someone?
Forgot I had a R1 brake clamp on loan with some R1 gold spot calipers - long story involving knackered blue spots. Just compared it to my TRX brake switchgear and the brake switch is a straight swap over, no mucking about req'd - plug and go!Mincehead wrote:I`m currently running a 19mm (3/4") Suzuki radial m/c with a brake lamp switch found at an autojumble and modified along with the lever to suit.

From what you say and re-reading other threads on this topic I can simply not bother connecting the sidestand cutout gubbins on the clutch side and my bike will still start? I have to agree after years of biking its intervention I don't need...and one less thing to play up!!
I will have a poke about my local dealership for an R1 and R6 of the correct vintage for a direct comparison. Equally I could just try disconnecting the connectors on the clutch and see if the TRX fires up without it. I presume only difference will be I'll be able to fire it up in first with the stand down?
Scanning eBay throws up plenty of clutch perches but the brake ones appear to be as rare as the proverbial rocking horse do do!!
Ah well if it was easy we'd all be at it.
That ISR stuff is nice but almost worth as much as my bike!! I'm on credit crunch budgetting hence the interest in cheaper solutions to a problem!!

I was under the impression that the R1/R6 brake levers bolt up to the TRX brake perch no worries... Or are you wanting to upgrade?Corners R Us wrote:

Re: Remind me someone?
Not the whole kit for me, got a used pump and the clutch lever...300-ish £ in mint condition.Mincehead wrote:The ISR kit is sexy stuff killerwhale, let me know how you find it.I`ve heard nothing but praise for their products.

From what I understand they dont. R1/R6 levers are narrower and slightly longer so you need to change the TRX brake and clutch perches for R1 or R6 items then buy Pazzo or such like levers to fit.

Re: Remind me someone?
OK so I've located some suitable R1 brake and clutch mounts to bid on. Now do I need the R1 brake reservoir to go with the R1 brake perch (which includes the master cylinder in the body?) or can I run my TRX reservoir with the R1 stuff. Are they different bores? Do I recall reading about 16mm and 19mm somewhere and that the R1 master cylinder works better/gives better feel with the R1 gold spots I already have on my bike?
Confusion reigns!!

Re: Remind me someone?
The reservoir pots (if that`s what you are talking of) are not important corners, many folk run mini pots and as long as they hold enough brake fluid to cover pad wear you are fine.
Obviously as the pads wear the caliper pistons are further out of their bores and more fluid is in the braking system as opposed to just being in the reservoir pot.

Thanks for clarifying....I now feel confident in what I need to purchase to upgrade to some nicer levers on my TRX.

Re: Remind me someone?
So what do the connectors that plug into the clutch lever do?
I now think the sidestand cutout is connected elsewhere, perhaps to the gear lever?
Cheers, Corners
