Your rear set plate's did you get any peg flex from single plate i did from mine so i went with plates on both side's

what colour are you going to do the fairings in

The Thunderace (YZF1000) arm is the same length as the TRX and the same width as the YZF750 arm- it bolts straight in. It might look shorter because it's quite fat. The rearset plates are made from 12mm ally and don't seem to flex once everything's tightened up, although I haven't ridden the bike yet with them fitted. I'm going to do* the fairings in white and keep everything in standard colours with standard decals because it's pretty

* I mean 'going to have the fairings done' in white. I don't do paint'

and a look at the nice job AAS did on the standard exhaust, turning it into a 2-1 with a single 50mm exit instead of two 38mm ones, saving a few kg by only needing one link pipe and can

I`m wondering then, having not known the shock was 50mm/2" approx shorter than stock, if THAT was the reason why the action of the rear suspension seemed so hard?

No probs! It's my business to know these things If the shock in your bike is a 2007/2008 R6 one, then they're around 290mm long and the TRX shock is 340mm long. Maybe the person you bought your bike off just fitted some (20mm? ) shorter dogbones? Have a measure- the standard ones are 182mm long.

Righty dokey, I haven't got much done as my bf's Buell has been on the lift while he's been sorting the snapped exhaust stud out and I can't work around other peoples' mess

I did get a little bit done yesterday though, I cleaned and refitted (but didn't polish!) the headers (I need to get new studs and clamps)



fitted the throttle and kill switch



stuck the carbs back on- say 'aaaaaah'



and made a carbon fibre exhaust hanger,





That's it for now. Hopefully I'll be able to get a bit more done today

I did some more stuff yesterday The TZ fairing just looked wrong on the TRX so...

I drilled the top yoke for risers and fitted some drag bars-

When I first got the TZ seat unit I was going to use the TRX seat but it looked crap. I made a right mess of the seat unit... The TZ seat unit didn't sit right on the frame because of the little brackety thing. Hence the gaping hole in my brand new fibreglass (it seemed like a good idea at the time...)



so, I covered the TRX seat in cling film and used that as a mould to make a thin replacement seat base to stick in the TZ seat unit-



It's only 1 layer thick but I'll cut that to fill the hole in the TZ seat unit and fibreglass it in place with another few layers. It'll be fine...

I'm kind of stuck for ideas for headlights. I like the hunched over look of the Buell Lightning with twin headlights but don't want to add too much steered mass to the bike. Any ideas?

Yes, but that yoke was already drilled (not by me.)

If the TZ fairings a non-starter how about a more modern Fazer 1/2 fairing/headlight to update the TRX's looks?

I love the look of the original fairing but it fouled the way I like the clip-ons (below the top yoke), and lowering it wouldn't have worked. It's not about updating the looks, more refining what was already there which is why I chose to try older TZ bodywork. The TZ tail still looks good, it's just the fairing is made for a much shorter (less tall) bike. I shaped the TZ tail to mimic the lines of the TRX seat a bit.

I dunno. I'll get the bike to a rideable state and ride it this summer hopefully, and have a proper prod at it next year when funds allow.
