520 chain conversion
Is this asking for trouble, or can a 520 cope ok with the TRX's torque? Has anyone done it?

Re: 520 chain conversion
Easily Kayla, might not last quite as long as 525 but it`ll be fine as long as you use good quality HD chain.
I`ll be up at Knockhill this weekend with the Classic Racing Club and lots of those guys race with it.

Re: 520 chain conversion
I have around 100 BHP, and can't say that 520 wears a lot faster. Other factors are probably affecting more, i.e. lubricant, weather, chain/sprocket quality. R6 has the same splines as TRX output shaft, and there are plenty of 520 conversion kits for them. I have a custom-made rear sprocket now, since i have different rims, but if i remember right, JT has rear alu sprockets in 520 that fits the TRX hub.

You still on the `losing weight` diet Kayla?
For the TRX that is.

Re: 520 chain conversion
I've done the opposite.. done a 530 conversion. Theoretically this involves additional power losses & increases in unsprung weight, in practice neither are apparent. What I do notice is a huge increase in chain & sprocket life. Remember the TRX may put out less horsepower than a R6 but it thumps out a lot more torque & thats what munches chains... (plus crap weather if you live in the old dart.)

Now with 140,000 on the clocks, X-mas tree didn't kill it & I still love it.

Re: 520 chain conversion

I'm not really expecting to see any change in performance, but all those 50g bites add up in the enddfh wrote:I've done the opposite.. done a 530 conversion.
