Post by pwmotorsports » Tue Jun 22, 2010 6:12 pm

according to the race tech website its the same part number and dimensions for sv 650 fork springs as it is for fzr600r forks anyone confirm this is the case? might make it easier to find suitable springs looking for springs for the newer model was my thinking ?

ok what was in my forks

the OD of the springs is 35.4mm and the length including the 150mm spacer is 530mm so remove spacer and spring length would be 380mm...........

racetech say i need spring thats 1.0kg/mm and they say there spring is 340mm long so spacer extension must me made i guess?

now ktech do a .95kg/mm spring thats 375mm long so surely this is a better bet as i get more spring ? less spacer.............

found this info online which really helped me to make sense of all the diffrent spring rates ive seen

to convert the spring rate between Nm (newton meters), kg/mm, and lbs/inch.

Nm divided by 9.8 = kg/mm
kg/mm x 56 = lb/in

... so a 650lb/in spring = 11.61 kg/mm.

Can't help you out specifically, but AFAIK, spring length is largely irrelevant, as long as yet get the right rate. I put racetek (I think) springs in mine that came with a spacer you cut to length to suit the bike.

But if it's the same part number then you shouldn't have any problems, you may need a different length spacer than an SV though.

yeah ive been wondering about the spacer as a lot of the race tech springs are diffrent length to stock but if they come with spacers to cut to length thats good

anyone who has racetech springs care to confirm they come with spacers to cut to length ?
