Post by burnrubberallday » Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:04 pm

hi all you trx owners ,just want to say ,then pick ya brains for trx knowledge.pre thanks.
bought a trx with its inherited running probs ,
despite looking at posts on forum i would like to know if float height should be set whilst carbs on the bike or whilst off .
not sure if workshop manual method poss .it says jack engine up until carbs are vertical,
also what is the standard postion of clip on the needle.
just need to the bike back to standard settings so i can make neccessary improvements to suit current exhaust /filter etc.
i know its a well worn subject ,so i am sure you can chuck in yer 10p worth, somethings are clear as mud in manuals of lets strip it and leave em quessing !!!!!!!!!
cheers

Follow the instruction on the factory pro website for float height,

some info here: http://www.factorypro.com/prod_pages/prody85.html (scroll down a bit)

& here: http://www.factorypro.com/tech_tuning_p ... gines.html

it sounds like it might have a factory pro kit fitted already as the standard needle has only one position.

The middle position is the standard setting for the clip.

Let us know how you go!

Edit: should elaborate: It's easier to set the float height with the carbs off! You have to take them off anyway to do the adjustments.

It was worth it though runs heaps better! I guess valve clearance is a good thing #-o
