okay so it wasnt the fuel cap
Okay so it wasnt the fuel cap letting water in the tank.................
bike has been out today to see if it works and it still wrong, so far ive
drained tank filled with fresh fuel
balanced carbs
put in some new plugs
tested compression
optimated the battery to make sure its tip top
checked all external wiring to make sure there isnt simply somthing loose
basically the bike worked fine was parked in the garden for a few days and then runs fine at idle but when you want to get going it seems very sluggish indeed almost like there is water in the fuel or somthing..........?
so ideas ?
coils maybe ?
cdi ?

Everything airtight?
Airbox to carbs
carb's to inlet.
Check it with some flammable pray.

Only if it's insured for fire
I can't remember your previous thread on the issues, but I assume you've checked float heights, needles, emulsion tubes?
Valve clearances?

If you let the bike idle and you spray some hairspray around the carbs and your idle speed goes up you have a leak somewhere

no leak however i think i found the problem...........
it was the fuel cap
well sort of............
during the process i basically disturebed the coil and it wasnt connecting very well so once i found that and sorted it its running well again, well apart from a small about of surgeing at certain revs ill see if that resolves itself as some miles go by and if not ill have the carbs apart to clean and check them

Nice one. You have to be happy with that. I hate the way the brain starts thinking up all the worst possible scenarios when stuff seems fubar.

Re: okay so it wasnt the fuel cap
after all that ran through a tank of fuel with no problems then today out of the blue it did it again for a little while then was fine again now im really confused
so im thinking it must be electrical now but as it seems to be intermitant how do i rule out coils without simply buying some more from evilbay ?
if not coils is it likly to be cdi ? stator? other suggestions?
Carbs didnt show leakage with use of hairspray or carb cleaner ...........
