Snow Snow Snow
Are any of you being daft enough to ride in this weather? Was out last night and saw some poor pizza delivery guy, learner to boot slipping and sliding through the snow on a 125, his employers must be a really great bunch of caring folks!
It is also too cold for winter garage work, if you have a freezing, poorly lit garage like mine.
Just oiled the chain and got the brakes working on the push bike which will be my preferred form of transport in current conditions.
and am a bit smug due to just finishing christmas shopping!

Thanks for that - not!!! I got most of mine sorted, just needed a few more plus some wrapping paper ... Then it started snowing. Haven't made it out of the village since (that was Saturday). Hoping to dig the car out by Thursday or we'll be having bangers & mash for Xmas dinner!!!Red Rex wrote:... Just finished ??? What's wrong with bangers & mash? As long as you have some onions for the gravy

Haven't ridden now since the 6th November when I bust my rib. All OK now and then it fecking snows - our village is impassable to all but (proper) 4x4s.
Went out shopping yesterday with a mate (ex rally driver and Petr Solberg chief technician) in his Scooby with proper snow tyres - he he he.

Re: Snow Snow Snow
Bob, QT ... You're soooooo lucky living in a hot country ... When the snow first arrived it was fun, snowball fights and sledging all day ... Now it's just cold and far too slippery out coz the snow's compacted and it's been below freezing 24/7 for days. even the kids don't want to go out in it. I'd swap places with you any day!! I live at the top of a fairly steep hill and it's lethal on the road ... Had to get towed by my neighbour in his tractor after I went sideways this morning ... Gonna hibernate now I think ... got all the presents and food and plenty of logs and coal so don't need to go anywhere!!!

Or 480mm of rain in December alone......ventured out today for the first time this month. Found a Range Rover in a pothole just up the road so decided to put it away before I hurt myself.
elementary my dear.....

Re: Snow Snow Snow
I was doing a tour thru the North Island of NZ with a group of Singaporeans. (now there's a group of people who have not ever seen snow)
We were going thru the Desert Road by Mt Ruapehu and it had been snowing,so I stopped and they got out and picked it up and one lady dropped it straight away exclaiming "oh its cold" it had never occurred to her that it would be cold.
Like Sherlock says it has been very wet here, really very wet, google (for those overseas) Emerald or Bunderburg and you will really get an appreciation of the destruction that this rain has caused.

Re: Snow Snow Snow
Hope you all had a great Christmas.
Well it's stopped snowing, and most of it has melted. It's just cold, grey and depresssing. You really don't feel like riding in it.
I have just cleaned the bike, it was encrusted in salt and grime and took ages.
Roll on warm weather
And Happy new year to everyone

Saw the floods on the news over the last few days ... hope it clears soon and doesn't get any closer to you, Sherlock
... and Bob, I hope the fires aren't too bad and stay well away from you and yours!

Re: Snow Snow Snow
To give an idea of the scale of the flooding - 2 days ago it was reported that an area the size of France AND Germany was under water.
