Brake reservoir conversion
YZF750 rear light after many hours of cutting and glueing
the slip-on is a MT-01 Titanium Akrapovic and its just a mockup. Its not mine and its just for a visual.

Nice
Brake reservoire conversion?
Ist that the Original one You remounted wit a shorter hose?
As I am allos changing my TRX (to be posted) a need a smaller reservoir, as my speedometers will sit lower.
But a relocation coud also be an option.

The reservoir can be mounted directly into the master cylinder as long as it`s a snug fitting, the stub that the hose from the resevoir would normally connect to is also a push fit in the master cylinder by the way.

The reservoir I'm currently using is about half the size the original one and sits on top of the spout opposed to the original that was on the side, bolted to the top yoke.
This reservoir came off a 2009 Z750 rear brake.

Nice work, looking great, why didn't you paint the engine while it was out? none of my business, just curious. Are you going to use it on the road or is it mainly track?

You're absolutelly right and I did forget to mention that this is not the final build. I'm going to get it on the road , sort out all the problems it might have, build it the way I want it and THEN go for the cosmetic build wich includes other forks , powdercoated this and that, replace rusty bolts and paint the engine!

Question...will this brake reservoire affect the braking in any way...feel or power?? Interested in doing something similar

Understeer - when you hit the fence with the front of the bike.
Oversteer - when you hit the fence with the rear of the bike.
Horsepower - how fast you hit the fence.
Torque - how far you take the fence with you.

No, the only effect will be at `bleeding` time, you just need to fill the resevoir more frequently.
If the resevoir has too small a volume of fluid there may be issues as the pads wear (as more fluid will be required to fill the lines and calipers etc), often folk will experience a little extra lever travel as pads wear down.
There is only pressure in the fluid between the master cylinder and the hoses, calipers and pistons when the brake lever is depressed, the fluid in the resevoir is at atmospheric pressure.
Some examples of the many types of resevoirs that can be found, the billet types with the clear windows to see the fluid level are especially nice:

Depending on the depth of your pockets there`s some real `exotica` out there:

Following my rebuild , you'll know that I bought this with a bad crank and I sourced an engine who's suppose to run "sweet as a nut" according to the guy.
I've been having carb/pump/tap problems and I've only managed to sort them out today. I threw the std cans on and warmed up the engine. Starts first time, absolutely perfect with the choke on, when it warms up, its rattles. Top end (valve) rattle on the left hand side even when revs go up. I've pressed the tensioner down but no luck.
After a while I start to ear noises from the big end , left hand side.
I've now started to cry and took the sump out whilst drying my tears.
Please leave your inputs while i ring the guy and threaten him.
Edit: I have now rang the guy who swears it was a good sound engine and I've got the rocker cover and the sump out.
No traces of worn lobes or freeplay on the conrod's big ends.

So far the engine seems to be a lot quieter but I can still ear a lot of "ticking" on the left and side of the head. Maybe valve shims need doing?
Some pictures of the progress

Ah yes to `clean-up` the top yoke.
I`ve had the ignition boss milled off my billet R1 top yoke, I intend to fit a keyless system with a passive fob eventually but to get the bike mobile for the rally season am considering a hidden microswitch.
Those Akrapovic`s looked rather nice when fitted.

Hi guys!!
After a pause in my build to get it MOT'd and having to work on the Custom Bike show at the Aly Paly, we're back on track.
Thundercat forks with the stock TRX wheel. Needed an 8mm long spacer on one side and a washer on the other and it's good to go. The calipers had to be spaced in with a washer as well.
I've also got the stainless bends and I'm about to start the fabrication process on it.
More soon
