Harris Rearsets...

This is an open letter to all you kind hearted souls out there and Rod.
Can anyone help me get my Harris Rearsets on my TRX. I will pay you in blood, maidens,
carton of beer? Bottle of spirits? 10 cartons of spirits? A whole Dan Murphy's?

Now you may laugh
But I did try and try very hard for a whole afternoon to set them up (read get them on bike working like they should) but only ended up scratching some paint and taking apart 3 sets of rear brake and gear shifts... and alas I got nothing on not even the rear hugger properly though with some Fung Shi tips that might be sorted after I decided to get it painted too.


Enough of my woe, all I wish for is to... into the sunset one last time with a TRX between my legs and a long road to the great white ball at the top of the mountain....
and maybe a pie at Canungra for lunch.

could work on a day after tuesday as have to go help a mate dig his 74 shovelhead out of the garage and hose out the house that went under in the floods up at Lowood..Was in original condition but dont come standard with a washing machine on the front mudguard .. Water up over the carb but shouldnt be too bad ...Could be worse

What sort of problems are you having setting them up?

Couldn't adjust the gear shift side as the hex bolts stuck and one the hex won't hold in it. After getting it on and checking with nws I did have it right and it seems in a good position now. Would like to be able to adjust them. Reading on the forum read about the engine and exhaust bolts removal dramas so will try some of the those solutions but then once i get the dodge one off trying to get a replacement bolt seems to be the next drama...

On the brake side was having an issue with where to attach the original brake light spring to and where to put the spring in for the actual rear brake but it was pointed out that the hydraulic rear brake I wouldn't need a spring so the main drama now is getting the rear brake light sorted with rear brake which is a lot better situation than I was 48 hours ago...

Often aftermarket rear sets do not have provision for a manual brake light switch. You need to fix a hydraulic switch into the braking system, Goodrich do them but here`s one I just found on EvilBay:

Cheers Mr Mince, next question where would that go? Was thinking I could put a pin into the hole a third of way along rbrake and attach orig spring to that?

Hey OC I wouldn't mind seeing a pic might give me another idea for attaching rear brake spring too...

The hydraulic switch simply bolts to the top of the rear brakes master cylinder, the hose banjo coupling fits as it would underneath it.
so it`s basically replacing the original banjo bolt with the switch, simples!

Interesting... are all the switches pretty much the same then...
ie the one on ebay was a Kawasaki I think... would it need to be the same thread (should it fit or is it a 50/50 get it and see type of thing?)

You want M10 x 1.25 thread / pitch, pretty standard for Japanese brake fittings.

There`s loads out there and most good bike shops will stock them too, Goodrich do a range to suit ALL threads found on bike master cylinders.

I think the TRX rear master cylinder is a Brembo unit, if that`s correct it may be M 10 x 1.00. Any others members out there to confirm this?

rear master is brembo on barons bike.

With a thread guage or just ask any of the suppliers of the switches for one to suit a Brembo master cylinder. Ahaaaa, here you go Red Baron:
