Frame Repairs?

Hi all,

Recently I discovered that I've managed to tear a hole in the frame on my bike. Fortunately, it's where the left exhaust hanger & pillion foot peg mount, so it's out of the way of serious stuff (I never carry a pillion). At the moment it's held back together with cable ties, but obviously I need to get it repaired properly. Does anyone know what material the frame is made of? I've got access to a MIG, so I can take care of the repairs myself if it's nothing too fancy, but I might have to call on some favours if I need TIG.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The frame is just normal steel, but it's very thin where you're going to weld so be careful!

Appears a common weak point, had to have mine welded there, mine was cut, a smaller bore pipe inserted then welded up! Do you have aftermarket pipes, and have you had to even the spacing up?

Thanks for the tips guys... I'll do what I can regarding inserting a thinner section of tube inside.

Yes it's got aftermarket Pipes, Yoshimura Titans. They were installed on the bike when i got it, but I've had them off a few times, and they never seemed to be putting any unusual load onto the mounting points.
